Job Description

Segers Aero Corporation located in Fairhope, AL is hiring a 2nd shift Cleaning Technician to join our team. We offer a competitive benefits package and every Friday off, apply today!

Purpose of Position: To clean parts and components for Segers Aero Corporation customer aircraft and engines, engine accessories, and propellers. This position may work with hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals and products to perform required tasks. This position is considered safety-sensitive in accordance with DOT and FAA regulations and as such, subject to drug and alcohol testing per FAA's regulations.

  • Essential Functions: (must be able to perform these functions, with or without a reasonable accommodation).
  • Cleans aviation parts with PRF680(mineral spirit), glass and plastic bead
  • Prepares for painting by cleaning, stripping, sanding, or chemically treating if needed
  • Preps accessory parts(clean, tape, aluminum prep, alodine) for paint
  • Cleans prep area before, after, and during operations
  • Maintains a clean workstation free from Foreign Object and or Debris (FOD), ensures tooling is properly stored
  • Maintains a clean/safe workspace free from spills or obstructions that may lead to harm
  • Properly disposes of excess materials throughout the operation
  • Works in accordance with applicable FAR’s, bulletins, maintenance manuals, and acceptable practices
  • Must be able to perform duties with little or no supervision
  • Works to production schedule as directed by manager/lead
  • Must read routing tags/sheets/traveler and follow directives
  • Travels as required
  • Confers with manager/lead to recommend changes such as equipment utilization, production methods, and procedures to increase the efficiency of the department and promote improvement
  • Attends all safety and health training, as required, in a timely manner
  • Works when scheduled and complies with company attendance policy
  • Works overtime as needed
  • Observes and practices all safety procedures and personal policies (e.g. safety glasses, ear plugs, face shields etc.)
  • Other duties as required

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: (these are required to enable job holder to perform the essential functions of the job)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be proficient in using a variety of hand tools, special tools, and GSE required to perform assigned maintenance tasks
  • Must be able to work with little or no supervisor and to take initiative.
  • Must be able to maintain an effective working relationship with, and among co-workers and supervisors
  • Must be able to use applied knowledge to formulate positive solutions to problem situations
  • Must be able to apply common sense
  • Must be able to effectively read, write, and communicate in English
  • Must be proficient in company-specific software and Microsoft Office Word and Excel
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using fractions and decimals; compute percentages, ratios, and rates and interpret graphs
  • Must be able to comply with OSHA requirements and standards to properly wear all applicable PPE
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly and more, with assistance occasionally.
  • Must regularly be able to reach overhead.
  • Must regularly be able to squat, bend, twist, stoop, and stand
  • Must be able to walk around regularly using steps occasionally
  • Must be able to see within the normal range of vision with or without corrective lenses
  • Must be able to hear running machinery
  • Must be able to use hands, wrists, and fingers repetitively
  • Must have exceptional eye-hand coordination
  • Must regularly be able to reach overhead
  • Must regularly be able to squat, bend, twist, stoop, kneel, and stand
  • Must be able to walk around regularly using steps occasionally
  • Must strive to continuously develop skills and pursue training opportunities.

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • At least 18 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 2 years of work experience required, with 1 year of mechanic or aviation industry experience preferred.
  • Must pass criminal background check, DOT pre-employment drug screen and comply with all applicable DOT-FAA required testing regulations.
  • Ability to provide verifications of US citizenship or permanent residency to satisfy ITAR/EAR restrictions
  • Position is considered safety-sensitive in accordance with DOT and FAA regulations as as such, subject to drug and alcohol testing per FAA's regulations.

Work Conditions:

  • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. Noise is generally loud.
