Clinical Risk Coordinator, RN

This role emphasizes the receiving and resolving of patient complaints, compliments, service referrals and patient requests. Tracking and trending of these events will be completed by the Clinical Risk Coordinator through the occurrence reporting system. In addition, the Clinical Risk Coordinator will facilitate the management of product recalls and occurrence report investigations and tracking. The Clinical Risk Coordinator will monitor completion of and closure of occurrence reports by providing reports by category, department and severity to both the Risk Manager and Chief Quality Officer.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assists with safety risk assessment and education to staff.
• Provides assistance to the Risk Manager with general operations of the department, special projects, and compiling data for committee meetings, including assisting with scheduling meetings and compiling the meeting minutes.
• Assists in the development of patient safety strategies and assists with implementation.
• Coordinates receiving and distributing product recalls to affected departments utilizing the occurrence reporting system. Ensures the completion of the recall process.
• Runs reports for product recalls received and reports these to the Risk Manager, Chief Quality Officer and Environment of Care Committee.
• Assists with monitoring compliance with patient safety regulatory standards, including but not limited to The Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and the Louisiana Department of Hospitals.
• Assists with the coordination of risk mitigation strategies developed from the hospital risk assessment.
• Reinforces a safe organization culture.
• Collects data and submits information for hospital’s Leapfrog participation.
• Facilitates the OPPE/FPPE process by working with the Medical Staff Office.
• Any and all other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements: Associate degree in Nursing. Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.

License: Louisiana state RN license required

Experience: RN with a minimum of 3 years clinical hospital experience required.
