Job description

Position Overview The Director of Operational Risk Management & Safety acts as a strategic advisor and hands-on implementer contributing to the overall success of the business by helping the organization navigate uncertainty and achieve its objectives. This newly created key role proactively manages risks internally and externally to include public facing events and is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive framework to identify, assess, and mitigate risks across our operations as well as ensuring the organization is prepared for potential threats and opportunities. Initial focus areas include creating emergency management, business continuity, and training programs and processes. Location Hybrid based in Glenview, IL. Travel This position will require occasional travel to our sites. Key Responsibilities Developing and Implementing Risk Management Framework: Creating and maintaining a framework that outlines how the organization identifies, assesses, and responds to risks. Emergency Management: Developing and implementing emergency response plans to protect the organization's employees, assets, and ensuring that employees are prepared for various emergency situations. Business Continuity: Design and implement strategies for the continuation of operations during a crisis. Developing and Implementing Safety Programs: Creating and updating safety policies, procedures, and training programs to address potential hazards and ensure compliance with regulations. Monitoring and Reporting: Tracking and reporting on key risk indicators (KRIs), monitoring the effectiveness of risk mitigation strategies, and escalating significant risks to senior management. Claims Management: Managing the entire claims process, from intake and investigation to resolution, and coordinating with legal teams to minimize legal risks and protect the company. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborating with various departments and levels of the organization, including senior leadership, to embed risk management into decision-making processes. Staying Current: Keeping abreast of industry best practices, regulatory changes, and emerging risks to ensure the safety frameworks are up to date and remain effective. Requirements Bachelor's degree in business. Relevant professional certifications are a bonus. Risk, Safety and Emergency Response Management Experience: 10 years of progressive experience in operational and insurance risk management and public safety roles. Risk Assessment and Implementation: Conducted risk assessments and developed practical solutions for risk mitigation. Analytical and Communication Skills: Analyzed complex data, interpreted trends, and presented findings. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Worked with various departments to build a comprehensive risk management and safety program.
