Summary Statement

The casual/seasonal Risk Manager Safety Officer will be tasked with assisting the merit Risk Manager Safety Officer. The incumbent is tasked with providing assistance with critical safety issues within the Delaware Psychiatric Hospital, such as, fire drills, safety rounds, and working with other departments and vendors regarding construction/maintenance of the building. The incumbent may also assist with investigations involving clients within the hospital as needed. Investigations can include archiving video, interviewing clients and witnesses for any incidents, and writing/presenting investigative reports.\r\n

Essential Functions

Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class. Since class specifications are descriptive and not restrictive, incumbents can complete job duties of similar kind not specifically listed here.\r\n\r\n Designs, implements and evaluates program including risk management, unexpected adverse events, hazardous waste control and patient, staff and visitor safety.\r\n Reviews incident reports to determine extent of risk and safety management factors.\r\n Investigates or coordinates investigations and prepares report of findings and corrective action needed.\r\n Coordinates safety and risk management programs with the Quality Assurance section to insure compliance with accreditation standards and other regulatory requirements pertaining to safety and risk management.\r\n Works with facility managers and supervisors to insure the implementation of corrective action plans. Monitors and follows up on corrective action. \r\n\r\n

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Risk Management Safety Officer\r\nApplicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:\r\n\r\n Six months experience in program design, implementation and monitoring of compliance for regulatory and accreditation standards. \r\n Six months experience in descriptive statistics such as the mean, median, mode or standard deviation.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAdditional Job Requirements for Department of Health and Social Services:\r\n\r\n Six months experience in facility clinical risk management programs.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

This is a Casual/Seasonal position which is a non-pension eligible position without healthcare and/or other benefits.\r\n
