Job Description

We are searching for an experienced Director of Accounting & Corporate Controller to oversee and provide hands-on support to the Accounting & Reporting function, help grow the company and ensure its sustainability.

Position Title: Director of Accounting & Corporate Controller

Position Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Supervises: 2-3 Accounting staff and collaborates very closely with Director of Finance and 2 analysts.

Location: North Colorado Springs, CO (potential for remote work up to 2x weekly based on home location).

Career Level: Director (exempt)

Compensation: Base annual salary of $125-$150K (DOE), plus Executive Bonus, plus Profit Sharing program.

Responsibilities:

  • Consolidates and presents accurate & timely financial statements and reports.
  • Prepares, enhances, and reviews monthly management reports.
  • Identifies & proactively reports key financial and business metrics.
  • Establishes and follows best practices and internal controls to safeguard company resources.
  • Leads the external audit process.
  • Collaborates across departments on their department budgets and updates.
  • Works with CFO and Director of Finance to set annual budgets and updates forecasts quarterly.
  • Ensures proper insurance coverage for company, wrap policies for attached projects, and bonding capacity for infrastructure guarantees.
  • Assists Director of Finance on a reliable cash flow projection process and ensures compliance with bank covenants.
  • Promotes an atmosphere of accountability that focuses on quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increases the goodwill and profit of the company.
  • Builds strategic relationships within the organization to enhance cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Provides departmental leadership by developing, coaching and, as necessary, providing hands-on support to a great team.
  • Other duties as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting.
  • Demonstrated progressive work experience leading up to current role as Corporate Controller or very experienced Assistant Controller.
  • A CPA is strongly preferred.
  • Homebuilding experience preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial benchmarking, accounting, audit and tax compliance and other regulatory matters.
  • Adept in fiscal management principles and processes.
  • Skill in planning, organizing, and supervising.
  • Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, problem-solving and decision making.
  • Skill in developing and maintaining effective relationships with management, customers, and vendors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
