Birmingham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is looking to hire a full-time Director of Rehabilitation. Can be Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, or Speech Language Pathologist to manage and guide our professional therapy staff as well as provide patient centered therapy for patients in our long-term care facility in Birmingham, AL.

This Director of Rehabilitation position offers a very competitive hourly wage for the region commensurate with experience. A DAY IN THE LIFE AS DIRECTOR OF REHABILITAION

As the Director of Rehabilitation at our long-term care facility, you will work for a practice that gives you support to get real results for your therapy team and your patients. The collaborative spirit here provides ample opportunities to lead and guide your team of therapist. Your attention to detail is essential to your success, as you keep up-to-date and accurate records. You also provide excellent leadership for assistants.

While managing day to day operations for your therapy department, you will attend meetings as part of the interdisciplinary team and collaborate with other facility staff. Other duties include:
  • Ensure the Compliance Program follows Code of Conduct.
  • Coordinate operations of the Rehab Department to meet the patient's needs as well as the company's fiscal requirements and maintain compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Coordinate the assignment of rehab patients and other rehab responsibilities to staff therapists in an appropriate manner.
  • Coordinate and manage responses related to ADR's / Denials, writing appeals as necessary, in coordination with the Executive Director.
  • Interview and recommend candidates for hire according to company policies with input from Executive Director.
  • Orient, train, supervise, counsel, and evaluate employees to achieve and maintain a high standard of care.
  • Work in conjunction with other departments involved in the management of payment for each patient seen by therapy.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR DIRECTOR OF REHABILITATION
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited OT or PT program, If SLP requires Master's degree or higher from accredited Speech Language Pathology program.
  • Current OT, PT or SLP license. SLP requires current ASHA certification.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations as they pertain to long-term care, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation facilities
  • Supports the Mission, Values and Vision of the Facility.
  • Supports, cooperates with, and complies with specific procedures and programs for OSHA and safety, including safe work practices, established fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management and security. Reports and/or corrects unsafe working conditions, equipment and maintenance needs.
  • Adheres to confidentiality of all data, including employee and operations data, HIPAA regulations, quality assurance and regulatory requirements, compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from sexual harassment and illegal and discriminatory behavior, Compliance with Medicare rules and regulations, compliance with billing practice through systematic audit process, Supports and participates in common teamwork.
  • Must be capable of performing the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing and possess sufficient communication skills to perform the tasks required.
  • D.A ((Americans with Disabilities Act) (as amended)) Requirements: Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as fax, copier, computer.
