BGCA Activities Aide
- Part-Time
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Activities Aide/Youth Development Professional assists the Activities Coordinator in planning, implementing and assessing club programs, providing community outreach, and supervising and maintaining safe and culturally conscious environment for all club youth.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Prepare Youth for Success
- Create a safe and culturally conscious environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes:
- Promote and stimulate program participation
- Register new members and participate in their Club orientation process; and provide guidance and role modeling to members.
Program Development and Implementation
- Effectively implement and administer programs, services and activities for youth members.
- Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure Club and child safety, quality programs and good appearance of the branch at all times.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participation in special programs and/or events.
- Provide daily transportation to and from program using PRCI vehicle.
- Daily meal preparation for snacks and hot meals
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff and youth Club members.
External: Maintain contact with external community groups, schools, members’ parents and others to assist in resolving problems.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or GED; high school students with valid job permit
- Experience in working with children
- Knowledge of youth development
- Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems
- Ability to deal with the general public
- Knowledge of Chukchansi culture, language and membership
- Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth
- Ability to organize and supervise youth members in a safe environment
- Mandatory CPR, First Aid Certifications and Food Handlers License (will be provided in training if don’t currently possess)
- Valid State Driver’s License

PRCI TRIBAL PREFERENCE:

First, enrolled Tribal Members who meet the minimum qualifications shall not be denied [an interview] if another individual at a lower preference has higher qualifications than are necessary for the position. Second, after preference is provided to enrolled tribal members, Native Americans who are enrolled members of a federally recognized tribe other than Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians shall be provided preference over equally qualified non-Indian candidates, however, if the non-Indian candidate is more qualified, a business decision may be made to hire or promote the best candidate. If more than one person at the same preference level meets the minimum qualifications, the decision-makers shall have discretionary authority to make the appropriate business decision in the best interest of the Tribe. Accordingly, when preparing job descriptions or job announcements care should be taken to establish qualifications that fit the desired needs of the position.
INDIAN PREFERENCE STATEMENT:
Under CFR 25, Part 276 and by Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, Section 701(b) and 703(i), preference in filling all vacancies provided to qualified PRCI Tribal Members and/or other American Indian/Alaska Native Candidates.
