About the Position
Our Consultants participate work on a diverse portfolio of engagements, developing and implementing strategies to help clients achieve their missions while teaching them sustainable ways to effectively achieve outcomes. Specific responsibilities may include:
Partner with senior level consultants to develop approach, execute approach, and revise approach as necessary
Manage and support client project tasks and/or manage small project teams to completion by developing task lists, assigning tasks, and coordinating across team members
Collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data (through research, interviews, surveys, observation, etc.) to capture the current state of the client mission and recommend best practice alternatives for a future state
Design and create communications plans and associated communications products to influence stakeholder behavior
Design effective communications products that simplify complex concepts, leverage visuals and graphic design, achieve project outcomes, and increase understanding of change project activities
Build lasting relationships with clients while helping them dissect and solve problems
Identify and document key insights from client interactions and data collection to propose changes for organizational improvement
Write strategic plans that outline material gathered during research, stakeholder engagements, and facilitated alignment sessions
Design, develop, and/or present client deliverables, applying basic consulting principles and frameworks (may include creating the deliverable structure and approach, writing, editing, formatting, and enhancing with graphical or technical software)
Lead and support stakeholder interviews and other stakeholder engagement activities
Provide project management support (to include managing resource-planning spreadsheets, working with senior-level consultants to refine project plans, performing quality control reviews on client deliverables, and drafting and submitting status reports to clients)
Provide event planning support for interactive conferences, strategy meetings, working group sessions or other events; this may include helping to design the event, coordinating event logistics, facilitating discussions, and capturing knowledge (live) during the event to ensure people who never attended understand the big takeaways
In addition to consulting work, Rockwood provides a unique experience where our team members also contribute to the growth of the business. For example, Rockwood Change Management Consultants may:
Support business development activities to help Rockwood win new work
Support development of Rockwood's social media and marketing materials to improve the Rockwood brand
Develop and deliver Rockwood's internal training classes to grow the Rockwood capabilities
Own one of Rockwood's consulting methodologies and provide coaching and mentoring to the Rockwood team (as the resident Rockwood Subject Matter Expert)
Support recruitment activities to attract, evaluate, and bring onboard the best talent
What You Must Have to Be a Management Consultant
Active security clearance (DoD or equivalent ideally at Top Secret level)
5 - 10 years of relevant work experience
Bachelor's degree
Innate ability to proactively and creatively problem-solve
Client/customer focus with outstanding organizational skills and attention-to-detail
Proficiency in word processing, Excel, presentation creation tools, and internet research tools
Willingness to commute to client locations in and around the DC Metro area; occasional travel outside of the DC area
Active listening and critical thinking skills to make connections and extract key takeaways from a discussion
Strong verbal and written communications skills to organize information into well-written clear messages and compelling documents
Ability to collaboratively brainstorm and work with clients and Rockwood team while also having the ability to work independently from a home office, client site, and Rockwood office as required
