Mechanical Engineer

Key Responsibilities:
- Organized and technically competent professional with effective communication skills for interfacing with engineers, designers, and drafters in a multi-disciplined environment.
- Design, develop, and implement fully integrated mechanical assembly systems that comply with local and government agency design/implementation codes.
- Knowledgeable in analyzing system designs for Hazard analysis development and mitigation.
- Understanding of Class 1 parts to optimize redundancy and minimize single points of failure.
- Develop comprehensive system configuration and design documents, including Theory/Description of operation, Detailed mechanical system design description, system implementation/acceptance test plans, and system routine maintenance/job plans.
- Produce drawings of mechanical design, assemblies, and installation procedures using AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks software.
- Design and troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic control systems.
- Perform system analysis/calculations, including Stress, fatigue, reliability, life expectancy, and tolerance studies.
- Familiarity with ride system design requirements for attractions, involving guest accelerations, reach envelope, ingress/egress, weight, and emergency evacuation analysis.
- Assist in the initial start-up and debugging of integrated systems and develop system documentation.
- Act as a technical lead on projects, guiding lower-level engineers, technicians, and contractors.
- Act as Project Manager on smaller projects ($50k to $250k), including developing and executing implementation plans, assigning work, ensuring project deadlines, clarifying responsibilities, developing schedules, evaluating progress, and managing purchasing and subcontractor requirements.
Job Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Directly related experience may be substituted for a degree).
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in mechanical systems, components, stress analysis, acceleration forces, and knowledge of amusement ride safety standards (ASTM Standards). Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks is desired.
- Key Competencies: Knowledge of contract documents and specifications, ability to collect field data, accurate record-keeping, and strong problem-solving skills.
- Skills: Proficient in the use of Microsoft Windows and Office environments.
- Ability to travel up to 35%.
