Job Description

Job Summary

The Director of Information Technology will oversee all aspects of IT, including systems, networks, cloud services, and IT security. Responsibilities will encompass system management, operations, and maintenance, as well as budget management and contract oversight. The Director will evaluate and enhance information systems operations in alignment with business and management objectives, focusing on factors such as cost, quality, information security, and compliance with policies. Additionally, the Director will provide support for system and software design, development, integration processes, and ensure user-friendly interfaces with help resources.

Job Responsibilities, Required Knowledge, Skills

Education & Experience

  • A High school diploma or GED is required; an advanced degree such as a M.S. or B.S. in computer science, information technology, or related field is preferred; extensive experience may be considered in lieu of education
  • Applied experience in mobility products such as iPhone, iPad, Android, Tablets, etc.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Five (5) or more years of applied IT supervisory, leading technical teams, or management experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience in the maritime industry is preferred
  • Ten (10) or more years of experience developing software using OOP languages including back-end development using SQL databases
  • Project management to include scrum, agile, khanban, swim lanes, dev ops, TFS (Team Foundation Server)
  • Security & Governance Frameworks (ISO 27001 & NIST)
  • Software Language experience to include C#.NET, SQL, XML, ASP.NET MVC, MS Visual Basic Scripting, MS Jscript, Microsoft, Azure, .net core, .net
  • Requires proficiency with computer hardware and software to include Microsoft Office applications, using a computer with a keyboard and mouse, navigation with a web browser, checking and sending email, and use of internet search engines
  • Proficiency leading remote technical teams, onshore and offshore

Required Licensure & Certifications

  • Requires an active and valid driver's license
  • Transportation Worker’s Identification Credential (TWIC) preferred

Working Conditions

  • Work hours will be assigned based on business needs however, work hours will typically be Monday-Friday from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. Work hours may include irregular hours including weekends, holidays, and after-hours to assist in completing special tasks or assignments
  • Out-of-regional travel may be required to visit field offices, attend training, or other work-related events
  • Work may be performed in a hybrid environment, subject to business needs and corporate vision
  • Onsite work may be necessary in office locations, field offices, or colocation data center facilities
  • Office locations include Galveston, Tx and Clearlake/Nassau Bay, Tx
  • Field office locations include Deer Park, Tx and Corpus Christi, Tx

Special Projects

  • Assist the management and or executive team when requested to complete special projects and complete all assignments within a negotiated time frame established by the department manager
  • Completion of other duties as assigned by the department manager as it relates to the program and position
