Who We're Seeking

The Director of Professional Development serves as the executive directly responsible for creating and managing Florida Realtor's professional development function which provide and empower REALTOR members to expand their careers and stand out in a competitive market with impactful educational opportunities. The Director of Professional Development reports to the Chief Operating Officer, directs and manages the work of employees of the Professional Development Department, and coordinates the work of relevant REALTOR leadership groups. This individual also works closely internally across other departments and externally with local Florida and national REALTOR associations in the scope of professional development.

What You'll Do
  • Creates and directs the professional development efforts of Florida Realtors.
  • Supervises departmental employees in their primary roles and in their roles as committee liaisons and member service providers for PD Committee, Curriculum Sub-Committee, Faculty Sub-Committee, Program Development Sub-Committee, Education Directors Sub-Committee, Convention Committee, Board Certified Trustee Group and Leadership Academy Committee.
  • Identifies and analyzes the educational needs of the members, using feedback from all relevant departments, input from local association representatives and data collected from member surveys/focus
  • Directs the marketing of educational programs both in-state and nationally, as required
  • Establishes and maintains effective partnerships with Local Association Executives and Education Directors to assure that the educational needs of members are met
  • Operates within approved budgets for education programs and services
  • Oversees and operationalizes digital record keeping of all Florida Realtors Educational offerings to assure concise and effective efforts
  • Assures that, as required, courses are approved and/or accredited by the Florida Division of Real Estate (library of over 200 courses), the National Association of Realtors, and other relevant entities
  • Administers the Florida Realtors Leadership Academy
  • Directs professional development programming and scheduling of convention speakers for the annual convention.
  • Coordinates/presents instructor LCIW (Learning Centered Instructor Workshop) training and subsequent bi-annual auditions.
  • Oversees and coordinates the Board-Certified Professionalism Program and application process
  • Supervises the coordination of LearnUpon - the online learning platform for the online GRI program
  • Oversees the FR Faculty (180 individuals) including bi-annual workshops and code of conduct requirements.
  • Oversees compliance with the education policies, procedures, and practices, including appropriate school site license location and instructor permits per the Florida Division of Real Estate's education section; serves as the Florida Realtors School and program permit holder
  • Assures that current courses meet the needs of the members and, as necessary, revises courses and develops new courses that provides members with the knowledge required to meet the needs of the marketplace. May retain qualified consultants within available resources.

Requirements

Qualified applicants will possess:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • At least 6 years of experience creating content, directing programming, and managing others in an adult-learning continuing education environment required. Previous experience in a volunteer driven environment, trade association, and/or real estate environment a plus.
  • Versant in the application of social media to the real estate industry and has basic knowledge of different communication options
  • Possess a detail-oriented style of management that allows for timely completion of deadlines
  • Ability to effectively supervise and delegate responsibilities in multiple employees
  • Experienced in adult education programs and delivery
  • Knowledgeable about virtual learning and hybrid learning platforms
  • Demonstrate a high degree of diplomacy, and the ability to protect the integrity of confidential and sensitive information
  • Able to coordinate a variety of programs and services simultaneously
  • Proven experience with modern office programs, such as Microsoft Office Suite including Publisher, Zoom, Adobe Acrobat, and a confident user of social media
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills to relate well with a wide variety of people
  • Ability to travel occasionally, when required
