Manager of Business Development

Department: Outside Sales
Reports to:  Direct of Client Engagement and New Business
 Job Summary
The Manager of Business Development will plan, coordinate, and oversee the activities of the Outside Sales department personnel, projects, and clients. They will help design, implement, and enhance sales strategies that align with company policies and objectives and achieve targeted quotas. Ideal candidates thrive in building a rapport with internal employees and be able to proficiently manage resources to identify and deliver on sales solutions to clients. This position has frequent contact with clients, direct reports, peers, and leadership.  

 Essential Functions
  • Direct daily operations of the outside sales department, analyzing workflow, establishing priorities, developing standards, and setting deadlines.
  • Monitor, track, and provide reports on KPI’s relevant to the department.
  • Ensure that the sales team meets stated goals and achieving quotas.
  • Develop and interpret departmental goals, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide training and professional development to the sales team.
  • Create sales goals and implement initiatives to increase sales.
  • Assisting sales team members to build quality relationships with customers.
  • Collaborate with other company departments as needed to drive sales flow and offer support in client decisions.
  • Developing strategies for increasing market share.
  • Ensuring that sales team members follow up with potential customers.
  • Generating reports and data for sales analysis.
  • Handling escalated client objections and concerns to support other members of the sales team.
 Qualifications
  • BA/BS degree in sales, business, communications, marketing, technology, or a related field; or a combination of education and related experience providing equivalent knowledge.
  • Five years of relevant experience in outside sales, preferably with IT focus. 3+ years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence the actions of internal stakeholders and manage relationships with clients.
  • Exceptional communication skills to provide leadership to a team and support clients.
  • Ability to lead a client through the sales process, determining needs, and closing the sale.
  • Strong foundational knowledge in information technology, including hardware, software, and IT services.
  • Comprehensive business knowledge to create realistic sales projections and objectives for the team.
  • Interpersonal skills to liaise with other departments and people within the organization.
  • Extensive mentoring and leadership qualities to train and develop sales team members.
  • Reliable transportation to travel to and from Atomic Data facilities and clients sites as needed.
