Job Description

Primary Objective of Position

The Chief Financial Officer is a partner to the CEO and executive team in establishing strategies and tactics to achieve Intek’s long-term vision. The CFO has primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial processes in the company, as well as a key resource for the Board of Directors.

Acts as a hands-on leader who directs, leads, and participates in developing long-range goals and objectives along with formulating and administering business unit policies. Reviews analyses of activities, costs and forecast data to determine department or division progress toward stated goals and objectives. Confers with CEO and the Leadership team to review goals or objectives resulting from current status or conditions.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Provide leadership in the development for the continuous evaluation of short and long-term strategic financial objectives and provides advice on the financial implications of business activities.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with senior leaders to identify their needs and seek a full range of data driven business solutions.
  • Establish policies and procedures required to direct and control the organization’s financial/accounting functions and provides necessary analysis, training and technical guidance to ensure compliance.
  • Manage processes for financial forecasting, budgets, consolidation and reporting. Including timely preparation and distribution of period financial statements, department financial reports and analysis, and documents for auditors.
  • Provides timely and accurate analysis of budgets, period actuals, financial trends and forecasts. Partners with functional area leaders in determining root cause of discrepancies from plan and appropriate actions. Audits accounts and reporting calculations for accuracy.
  • As a member of the M&A Steering Committee, actively engages in strategic discussions, analysis, due diligence, and integration of acquired companies. Responsible for all financial analysis & proformas of considered acquisition targets.
  • Directs the process improvement efforts in the financial/accounting area of the company.
  • Actively engages in employee development and ensures team members receive applicable continuing education to keep current with market demand and new technologies.
  • Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
  • Assists with strategic financial objectives during union contract negotiation and preparation.
  • Selects and develops department personnel to facilitate efficient operations and provide support to other departments for their information and financial needs.
  • Serves as Treasurer of the company for relations with outside financing sources, banks, auditors, and financially related institutions to ensure the company’s capital needs are met and to ensure the proper financial integrity and control for transactions with vendors and customers.
  • Collaborate with the company HR Leader to make recommendations for insurance coverage with the help of outside consultants to ensure assets are protected, and the insurance is at a reasonable cost to the Company.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by CEO.
  • In collaboration with the company HR Leader, coordinates activities of the auditors, participant accounting administrator, trustee, and participates as a member of the company Investment Committee.
  • Prepares and delivers presentations to employees, CEO, Board of Directors, etc.
  • Every employee is expected to support the INTEK Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with our Quality System Manual and Documented Procedures. This position is responsible to set, follow and maintain the QMS and related Documented Procedures. This position also has change authority over their processes.
  • Supports company IMPACT initiatives for People, Planet and Community and acts as advisor for philanthropic budget planning.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • BS in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or MBA preferred.
  • 20+ years in progressively responsible financial leadership roles, preferably in a manufacturing and private equity environment.
  • Demonstrated experience as an Operational CFO vs. an Accounting CFO.
  • Experience acquiring and integrating manufacturing companies, preferably in a private equity environment.
  • Knowledge and experience with treasury requirements.
  • Cash and tax management experience desired.
  • Experienced with shareholder distribution and dividend knowledge, as well as experience with Private Equity-owned companies.
  • Demonstrated Continuous Learner.
  • Banking relationship and Risk Management experience.
  • Experience with EOS preferred.

Responsibility of Work for Others

Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to occasionally lift (weekly) up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, twist and carry tools or materials.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
