SAFS - Kitchen Coordinator/Shelter Support Provider

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7 am - 3 pm

Hourly Pay Range: $16-$17

Responsibilities

• Oversees cleanliness of kitchen, dining room and pantry areas including equipment and storage.
• Develops menu for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack meals.
• Prepares and serves meals for clients throughout the week; plans meals for weekend staff to prepare and serve.
• Purchases, orders and receives food stock.
• Ensures proper food storage, dating and rotation. Eliminates outdated food.
• Supervises food service volunteers during his/her work schedule.
• Completes required Agency and funder's record keeping and documentation.
• Demonstrates an understanding of, and support for, the mission of Catholic Charities and acts as a representative of Catholic Charities in this role.
• Receives prospective clients and determines eligibility for service. Admits clients through established procedures. Refers ineligible prospects to other programs as appropriate
• Supervises and assists clients in their day-to-day requirements. Informs clients of shelter guidelines and completes infraction reports when violations are observed.
• Recommends exceptions to shelter guidelines to appropriate staff members. Communicates exceptions to other staff members.
• Collaborates with other staff members to follow recommended housing plans.
• Manages resident's daily requirements of shelter. Ensures shelter duties are accomplished and daily inventory of various items available.
• Coordinates and supervise volunteer staff's interactions with clients. Receive and acknowledge donations to the shelter.
• Receive incoming calls to shelter, respond to inquiries, and determine appropriate action.
• Completes daily logs and other documentation prior to leaving the shelter for shift.
• Maintain safety and security of the facility. Escalate appropriate situation to supervision for review.
• Cleans empty rooms on an as needed basis in order to get rooms ready for new families entering shelter.

• Education
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification, License, or Registration
  • Certified Dietary Manager preferred.
  • Food handler's permit preferred.
  • Class C Driver's License.
• Experience
  • Minimum one year experience in quantity food preparation and kitchen coordination.
• Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to work independently and meet requirements of KSBE/CACFP
  • Ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment and supervise kitchen aides in quantity food preparation.
  • Ability to use a personal computer via mouse and keyboard, familiarity with windows and Microsoft products.
• Communication
  • Frequent communication with program staff and participants.
• Exposures
  • Controlled inside work environment with noise/vibrations from commercial kitchen equipment
  • Regularly handles/operates manual and mechanical cutting tools, cleaning, and cooking/baking equipment.
• Physical Demands
  • Work Type: Moderate, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • Climbing/Balancing/Freedom to Move: May be assigned to multilevel building with some floors accessible by stairs only. Prolonged standing and constantly required to move about kitchen. Sit about 10 percent of time.
  • Stooping/Bending: Frequent.
  • Reaching: Frequent, overhead as well as horizontal and down.
  • Vision: Adequate to perform essential functions.
  • Color vision: Adequate to perform essential functions.
