This is full-time Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm, with additional hours/times as needed in Aventura, FL.


Position: Systems Engineer

The Systems Engineer is responsible for the support, planning and engineering of an organization's systems infrastructure. This includes the security, monitoring, implementation and design of hardware and software.

He or she must demonstrate aptitude in a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures within the IT field while relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish department and company goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a liaison between information technology and appropriate department or staff in efforts to drive strategic systems technology initiatives

  • Maintains records, updates documentation, and composes correspondence

  • Recommends and assists in the overall platform architecture needs.

  • Reviews and recommends new system/software releases, upgrades, patches and resolving related problems

  • Reacts to and resolves critical alerts

  • Uses innovative methods in the development, enhancement, and maintenance of applications.

  • Responsible for the implementation of new deployments as well as insuring the documentation of such.

  • Leads and participates in compliance audits as needed and BCP/DR planning.

  • Participates in the evaluation of requests for information systems hardware, software, or services.

  • Assists in the development, compilation, maintenance, and documentation of computer monitor systems, vendor-supplied packaged programs, macros, utilities, data communications programs, and other highly technical programs.

  • Disseminates detailed descriptions of new or modified software systems and instructions for their use.

  • Must meet program priorities, objectives, and procedures.

  • Additional duties, consistent with the successful operation of the department and the business as whole, may be assigned by management

  • Employees are expected to cross train within their department to ensure business continuity


Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree and/or 4+ years of experience in the field or in a related area

  • Active Directory administration experience required

  • Virtualization experience required

  • Knowledge of network equipment and operations required (Cisco Meraki experience is a plus)

  • Advanced comfort level and use of Microsoft based technologies (Office 365, Desktop and Server management).

  • Experience with backup methodologies and software a plus (i.e.Veeam)

  • Familiarity with telecommunications concepts and equipment (i.e. Voip Phone systems)

  • Mac desktop/laptop & Apple device experience a plus.

  • Knowledge of IT systems including servers, desktops, routers, switches and firewalls.

  • Strong project management, time management, and problem management skills.

  • Knowledge of Business Continuity Planning and Disaster Recovery planning/design

  • Knowledge of system implementation methods used for the development of new systems and enhancements to existing information systems.

  • Advanced Knowledge of computer monitoring systems, vendor-supplied packaged applications, utilities, and other highly technical applications.

  • Advanced Knowledge of the operational and technical problems involved in a Production Operations Environment

  • Ability to gather and analyze facts, draw conclusions, define problems, and suggest solutions.

  • Ability to communicate effectively.

  • Excellent documentation and organization skills

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and guide/mentor others on the team.

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

  • Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 20 pounds
