About YWCA San Antonio:
YWCA exists to eliminate racism and empower women. Since 1850, YWCA associations around the
country have empowered women to lead their communities in social change. The San Antonio chapter,
established in 1910, has provided support for women and girls to become economically self-sufficient
while working on the front lines to promote racial justice. The core programming of the YWCA San
Antonio has evolved over its 110-year history, and today the organization serves nearly 10,000 clients
through programs focused on women’s economic empowerment, health and wellness, youth and teens,
and racial justice.
About the Position:

The YWCA Ready to Work Program is designed to promote economic recovery by increasing access to education, training, and wraparound services for San Antonio residents and by aligning training with the talent requirements of local businesses. The YWCA Ready to Work Job Placement Specialist will conduct case management specifically focused on work readiness and job placement activities. Will collaborate with case management to move participants finishing training into thriving wage job opportunities. All services provided will be done using a trauma informed and racial justice/gender equity lens. The YWCA Ready to Work Job Placement Specialist is a grant-funded, full-time position. The Ready to Work Job Placement Specialist will report directly to the Ready to Work Program Manager. 


Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with case managers to help move participants into the job placement phase by focusing on work readiness and job placement. 

  2. Connect and maintain relationships with employers to increase job placements.

  3. Carry a caseload of participants within the job placement phase by providing career focused case management.

  4. Ability to travel to infrequent offsite locations for meetings and recruitment. 

  5. Ensure each participant meets the eligibility requirements of the program by inspecting and verifying approved documentation. 

  6. Conduct comprehensive assessments of Ready to Work Participants and prepare and agree to a Ready to Work Plan (an education/training and career plan) with each participant. 

  7. Ensure participants barriers/obstacles, which may hinder the completion of the program, be addressed using trauma informed care strategies. 

  8. Identify what support services are needed by the participant and refer when needed after ensuring the YWCA San Antonio is unable to meet a specific need. 

  9. Offer the support participants need to succeed in job placement, to find well paid jobs, and to thrive in those jobs though structured individual ongoing client sessions. 

  10. Be knowledgeable and proficient with designated Data Platform. 

  11. Enter client information into designated Data Platform accurately and timely and ensure documentation meets all contract requirements.

  12. Continuously review participant progress and note their progress accurately in the designated Data Platform.

  13.  Attend regular scheduled meetings/training with the City of San Antonio as directed. 

  14. Leverage the strength of program partners as appropriate when making client referrals. 

  15. Maintain ongoing relationships with Training Providers. 

  16. Assist applicants with creating a WorkinTexas Account. 

  17. Ensure the Program Manager has information needed to complete Monthly Reporting to the City of San Antonio. 

  18. Ensure data for each stage of client progress is entered into the Data Platform accurately and timely. 

  19. Participate in YWCA racial justice/gender equity activities as directed.

  20. Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor which affect program quality, and the promotion and support of the YWCA San Antonio. 

Position Requirements:

● Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College/University in counseling/social work or other related field preferred. 

● One year of work experience providing direct services to disconnected adults or assisting adults with work placement. 

● Able to handle confidential information. 

● Reliable transportation 

● Current Vehicle Insurance 

● Ability to pass a criminal history check to include a national fingerprint check 

● Proficient in Microsoft Office and data entry 

● Excellent written and verbal skills 

● Bilingual preferred

  • Flexibility and adaptability to work non-traditional hours to provide client services, to include evenings and weekends as directed.

  • Dependable attendance and punctuality are necessary to perform the essential job duties.
