JOB TITLE: Visitor Services Associate (Part time)

DEPARTMENT: Visitor & Member Services

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

JOB SUMMARY:

The Visitor Services Associate plays an integral part in the daily, primary, visitor-related functions of CHM. The Associate supports the Visitor Services staff in a variety of departmental tasks, with the primary focus on front line ticketing, reservations and membership sales. The Associate assures that timely, courteous and helpful service of the highest quality is afforded to all visitors. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Greet general admission visitors, school field trip, and adult group tour goers

· Provide information and assistance at the main entry, such as directing patrons to restrooms and exhibits

· Execute exhibition ticket sales, public program reservations, Research Center admission, and membership sales

· Provide general information to callers regarding hours, admission, public programs, reservations, museum membership, directions, parking, general museum information and museum policies

· Prioritize administrative task assignments in relation to daily operating functions.

· Regular staffing of welcoming, ticketing and coat check functions for after-hours museum programs and rental events.

OTHER DUTIES:

• Staff and maintain the security of the coat check area

• Notify staff of visitors

• Transfer calls to departments/staff

• Guide patrons to exits or provide other instructions/assistance in case of emergency

• Provide accessibility assistance for visitors with need for accommodation.

• Ability to perform physical tasks involved in moving school group Activity Carts

and equipment; pushing and pulling 50+ lbs. and lifting 20 lbs.

• Administrative duties as assigned related to school group, members, and public program reservations including attendance tracking and membership fulfilment

• Other duties as assigned


REPORTS TO: Visitor Services Manager

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

The Visitor Services Associate will support all front-line staff and other departments of the Museum in providing superior customer service. The Associate will interact daily with Museum visitors, members, and volunteers.


QUALIFICATIONS:

· High School or equivalent degree

· Experience working with a broad range of visitors and callers, including a highly diverse general public

· Ability to lift, carry, or otherwise move boxes, activity carts and objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a daily basis

· Experience working as part of a team

· Experience with ticketing transactions/reception desk functions as well as regular cash handling and basic accounting procedures

· Ability to use the technology and information provided by the Museum to effectively communicate and problem-solve

· Ability to take responsibility for ideas, decisions, and actions

· Ability to communicate calmly and clearly at all times, both on the phone and in person· Available to work evenings and weekends on a regularly scheduled basis and occasionally on an on-call basis.
