Equine Ranch Hand/Groom

A love of horses and everything equine-related is the primary requirement for this opportunity.  Pomponio Ranch North (PRN) is an incredible property beautifully situated in the coastal range of San Gregorio.  Envision yourself working with the animals that you love in a place where rolling green hills and pastures are abundant.  If this is something you can see yourself in, then PRN is the place for you.  We’re in search of an experienced Equine Ranch Hand/Groom who is passionate about the care, health, and development of show jumping horses.  The primary responsibilities for this role are grooming horses for our team of riders and, secondarily to act as an extra hand to help out with other equine activities around the barn.  Apply now if you’re motivated, energetic, and a “horse” person who is passionate about everything equine.  The position reports to the PRN Equine Manager.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Provide exceptional grooming services to support the trainers
• Groom responsibilities, e.g., lunge, bandage, wrap, administering therapies, etc.
• General Horse assistance, including but not limited to: 
  • Feeding horses, 
  • Turning horses out in pastures, bringing horses in from pastures, and helping move them to different pastures
  • Care and exercise of horses
• Maintaining a clean and safe environment for all animals on the Ranch
• Miscellaneous ranch work as needed

Qualifications/Requirements:

• At least 1-2 years of experience and knowledge of caring for equines.
• Basic knowledge and experience as a groom for show jumping horses.
• Knowledge of safe work practices around horses and other livestock
• Experience in monitoring animal appearance/behavior and communicating any necessary information to superiors
• Strong communication skills
• Work effectively with minimal supervision, self-motivated and self-starter
• Strong commitment to teamwork
• Ability to adhere to the organization's policies, procedures, and regulations
• Flexibility in work schedule.
