Description:

As a Senior Accountant at Kunkel & Associates, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records. You will be responsible for overseeing various accounting functions and collaborating closely with other departments to support the financial health and operational efficiency of the organization. Due to the complexity of this position, employee will be required to work from the office.


Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, in accordance with GAAP principles.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development and monitoring of annual budgets and forecasts, providing insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Month-end and Year-end Close: Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded and reconciled.
  • General Ledger Management: Maintain the integrity of the general ledger, reviewing account balances, and performing regular reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, including vendor payments, carrier payments, and collections, to optimize cash flow and working capital management.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct detailed financial analysis and variance analysis to identify trends, assess performance, and provide actionable insights to management.
  • Tax Compliance: Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations, including preparation of tax returns and supporting schedules.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate existing accounting processes and systems, identifying opportunities for improvement in efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.
  • Team Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented work environment.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or relevant coursework; CPA certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or related field.
  • Must have strong Outlook, Word, and Excel and 10-key Skills.
  • In depth experience with financial statements.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills.
