Job Description
Description:

• Perform month-end duties including but not limited to:

- Prepare and enter journal entries

- Maintain appropriate sub schedules and reconciliations

- Fixed Assets and Depreciation tracking

- Payroll Analysis

• Assists Chief Financial Officer in the preparation of the monthly financial analysis package.

• Prepare Management reports including but not limited to:

- Monthly Occupancy Reports

- Monthly Payroll and FTE Variance Reports

- Fixed Assets and Depreciation Schedules

• Assist Chief Financial Officer in the preparation of the annual budget, annual audit and any other local, state and federal required reports.

• Oversee and manage the general accounting functions and staff including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, resident billing and Medicare billing.

• Cash controls including the depositing and overseeing of posting of cash receipts.

• Monitor the processing of Accounts Payable including:

- Check for proper approvals and verify coding of invoices

- Ensure appropriate assignment of departmental expenses and that supporting documentation is executed and maintained

- Prints and reviews checks and submits for proper signatures

- Yearly 1099 processing

• Approves financial qualification for move-ins into Assisted Living, Memory Support and Skilled Nursing.

• Prepare and submit monthly sales tax and bed tax reports and payments.

• Participate in the Manager on Duty program.

• May require working evening and/or weekend hours.

• Practice and observe all safety and loss prevention programs.

• Adhere to community standards and guidelines.

• Supports the Mission and Values of the community and Catholic social teaching.

• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements:

Educational Requirements and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required

• Seven to eight years of progressing experience in accounting required

• Supervisory experience required

• MBA or CPA preferred

• Healthcare experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Cognitive Demands:

- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

- Ability to analyze information, problems, situations, practices and procedures to accomplish defining the problem or objective, identifying relevant factors or concerns, identifying patterns, formulating logical and objective conclusions, and recognizing alternatives and their implications.

• Computer Skills:

- Ability to use Microsoft Office for Windows, including Word and Outlook with especially strong competencies in Excel

- Willingness to advance skills as needed

- Ability to use the Internet.

- Ability to utilize accounting programs and software.

• Competencies:

- Knowledge of federal and state employment laws

- Excellent oral and written communication and skills, as well as exceptional customer service skills

- Effective interviewing skills

- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to effectively manage conflict resolution

- Detail oriented and excellent organization and follow—through skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time
