Job Description

S&S Activewear is seeking an experienced Director of Software Engineering to lead our Software Engineering department and implement technical solutions that give S&S Activewear a competitive advantage. These systems are the engine that drives the company and will continue the company's year over year growth.

As the Director of Software Engineering, you will be responsible for leading multiple Software Engineering teams and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality software solutions that align with our business objectives. The ideal candidate is an experienced leader with a proven track record of hands-on coding experience, team leadership, and effective communication with stakeholders. This position will report to the VP of Information Technology and is a hybrid role located in Bolingbrook, Illinois.

Duties & Responsibilities

Leadership and Team Management

• Lead, mentor and grow teams of talented Engineers and Product Owners.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.

Project Delivery

• Oversee the design, development and deployment of software critical to the success of the company.
• Responsible for maintaining and expanding DevOps CI/CD automation.

Architecture and Security

• Continue to advance the company’s cloud modernization efforts.
• Maintain and expand coding standards.
• Responsible for security scanning and remediation of the software platform.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Be the subject matter expert on software platform and integration with partners and customers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to define software development priorities, project timelines, and resource allocation.
• Support integration with vendors and business partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or Equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 10+ years leading software development in an agile environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Hands-on experience with code management, release planning and CI/CD, and overall software development life cycle, preferable in Microsoft. Net ecosystem.
• Strong object-oriented design and programming skills.
• Solid relational DBMS skills using Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL or other DBMS products.
• Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talented engineers.
• Hands on cloud experience modernizing mission critical solutions on AWS.

Working Environment

Currently, S&S has a remote work policy which provides for employees to be in the office Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and work from home on Tuesdays and Thursdays, which is subject to change based on business need. Position location: Bolingbrook, IL.
