Summary
We are looking for an Events Business Development Strategy Director. The ideal person for this role is personable, innovative and an expert in complex events.
The Events BD Strategy Director role specializes in the creation stage of experiences, balancing creativity and research. They will deep dive into clients’ brands and then collaborate with other team members to ideate, quote and assemble comprehensive proposals. Once the proposal is complete, the Events BD Strategy Director will lead the presentation to the client, conveying the approach and creative solutions. This person should enjoy working on a variety of projects at one time, as they will lead and manage a wide variety of project proposals.
This individual must be skilled in event budget development, industry trends, and company capabilities. Outreach to potential clients (including traveling for in-person presentations) is a critical element of this role, so a poised, influential communication style is crucial. Many proposals require original content, so the ability to copywrite is preferred.
You’ll spend your days on the following:
- Make consistent and strategic client reach outs to establish new and grow existing business.
- Lead the development and delivery of proposal and sales presentations for custom events and experiences.
- Direct the design, content, and production of proposals, with equal amounts of delegating/oversight and personal contributions.
- Review proposals throughout development to ensure they are on target with client goals and brand. Provide feedback on revisions as needed.
- Prepare potential budgets for each proposal, accounting for all expenses needed.
- Stay up to date on industry trends.
- Fully understand company capabilities and adapt them to meet individual client needs.
- Take active role in team meetings and brainstorm sessions.
- Track leads and opportunities in Salesforce.
- Travel approximately 25% of the year (client visits, presentations, industry events, etc.)
What you need to be successful in this role:
- 5+ years experience in events, with at least 3 years in event business development
- Copywriting experience preferred
- Self-starter & resourceful
- Great listener with ability to respond with thoughtful questions
- Strong verbal & written communicator
- Poised and professional presenter
- Multi-tasker with ability to prioritize
- Creative & innovative
- Detail-oriented with a good eye for design
- Ability to take direction from and work with various personalities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
