Systems Engineer Advisor

MISO is hiring a Systems Engineer Advisor to help adopt new capabilities as we influence the future of development! Work with domain professionals and project teams to be a part of crafting technology solutions that ensure the future systematic, reliable operations of the bulk electric power grid. As MISO’s Systems Engineer Advisor, you will:
- Demonstrate leadership, interpersonal, and effective communication skills enabling the ability to effectively collaborate, negotiate, and thrive in a team environment
- Tailor the application of Systems Engineering methods to MISO systems and projects
- Guide and advise Systems Engineers and Business Analysts through framing, requirements and design, and solution recommendation activities
- Be the liaison between the Systems Engineering team and the various internal business stakeholders, partnering with them to build system engineering artifacts to support program/project management, vendor development, and business analysis
- Collaborate across a broad and diverse set of partners (Enterprise Architecture, R&D, Product Teams, Software Development, Test, and Business teams) to help establish and improve a standard technical development model
To be successful in this role, we’re looking for the following:
- At least 8+ years of relevant systems engineering work experience applying systems engineering practices across all phases of the system lifecycle (concept, design, requirements, test, integration, operations, and retirement)
- Extensive experience applying systems engineering practices and knowledge in modeling system requirements and designs using a variety of techniques (e.g. SysML) and associated tools (IBM Rational ReqPro/DOORs, Cameo, SparxEA, etc.)
- Systems “thinker” and can approach problems logically, iteratively, incrementally at multiple layers of abstraction
- An individual who is strong at documenting and maintaining functional specifications, concepts of operations, and operational definitions in support of engineering practices
- Certified as a Systems Engineer by the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) preferred
Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge
