Job Title: Mechanical Engineer (Manufacturing / Equipment Engineering)

About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to support a high-precision manufacturing environment, focusing on the design, optimization, and lifecycle management of production equipment and mechanical systems.

This role will play a key part in improving manufacturing capabilities by developing innovative mechanical solutions, supporting new product initiatives, and ensuring equipment reliability, safety, and performance. The position requires a strong blend of design expertise and practical, plant-floor engineering experience.


Key Responsibilities
  • Design, modify, and optimize production equipment to support specialized manufacturing processes
  • Develop creative mechanical solutions to improve performance, reliability, and sustainability of existing machinery
  • Lead mechanical development efforts for new product initiatives, translating concepts into manufacturable solutions
  • Conduct capital equipment evaluations, including cost analysis, ROI assessments, and technical recommendations
  • Collaborate with production and quality teams to investigate non-conformance issues and implement corrective actions
  • Create detailed technical documentation including CAD drawings, layouts, schematics, and process flow diagrams
  • Oversee installation, commissioning, and validation of new equipment and systems
  • Perform “make vs. buy” analysis for equipment and components with focus on cost, safety, and maintainability
  • Develop and execute testing protocols to validate performance and ensure compliance with specifications
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency and reduce operational costs
  • Support facility and infrastructure-related mechanical systems as needed

Key Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Strong hands-on experience with mechanical systems, equipment troubleshooting, and process support
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar 2D/3D design software (SolidWorks, Creo, etc.)
  • Experience with equipment design, modification, and system integration
  • Familiarity with capital equipment projects, including cost analysis and implementation
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, mechanical components, and production workflows
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work across engineering, production, and leadership teams

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in high-precision or regulated manufacturing environments (e.g., printing, packaging, aerospace, or similar)
  • Exposure to CNC machining, tooling, or equipment programming
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma methodologies
  • Experience working with production equipment such as press systems, bindery, or automated machinery
