Job Overview:

The Fleet Manager is responsible for monitoring all matters that have an impact on driver productivity, service, and generation of revenue. This includes coordination with other departments and serving as a liaison between the driver and those departments.

The Fleet Manager is a full-time position with typical hours on Monday-Friday from 7:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M, as well as overtime when required. This is a 100% in-person position based in Little Rock, AR.

Essential Functions:

  • Complies with all procedures outlined in CalArk’s Policy Manuals, Department Standard Operating Procedures, FMCSA Regulations, DOT, and OSHA requirements.
  • Promote safety first for all areas of dispatch. Ensure that drivers are following all safety policies and procedures including hours of service requirements.
  • Answer phones professionally and courteously in order to optimize communication and build strong relationships.
  • Answer messages from the Qualcomm in a timely and professional manner.
  • Track driver movement to help ensure that customer service standards are met.
  • Communicate with planning and customer service team on late loads or issues with shipments.
  • Notify drivers of their load assignments.
  • Assist drivers in trip planning and troubleshooting when solving for time off and shop routings.
  • Ensure drivers are following fuel and route assignments by coding alerts.
  • Ensure route lines and extra pay for accessorial items is correct so drivers have corrected paychecks.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • Possesses the ability to communicate and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of the organization, as well as external vendors, customers, and other business contacts.
  • Ability to read materials and identify relevant details, judge accuracy, and appropriateness.
  • Demonstrates and promotes a spirit of cooperation and teamwork throughout the company.
  • Continually looks for ways to improve company processes.
  • Effectively assists and serves other CalArk associates.
  • Continually strives to improve personal performance.
  • Takes an active role in seeking training or other opportunities for growth and development.

  • Works in accordance with Federal, State, and Local requirements.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, General Education Degree (GED), or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience in transportation and operations is highly encouraged. A working knowledge of the FMCSA Regulations recommended.
  • Strong computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment including Outlook, Excel, Word, and the AS400 system are highly recommended.
  • Strong work ethic
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
