Materials/Maintenance Technician

*Modified 2nd Shift: 10am - 6pm OR 11am - 7pm, Mon thru Fri
*1st Shift Training: 7am - 3pm (Mon - Fri)
Position Overview
The Materials / Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventative maintenance on various pieces of equipment and the overall facility, receiving and staging material, shipping lot-tracked materials, and completing forms and records documenting completed work. Additional duties will include cycle counts, inventory transactions in ERP software that require proficient computer skills, and use of equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and scissor lifts. Following training, the Materials / Maintenance Technician is expected to independently perform preventative maintenance and ship/receive materials at a reasonable rate while following established policies, procedures, and practices.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintenance Duties:
- Assist in the setup, tear down, and troubleshooting of cGMP production equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment, including boilers, HVAC, RTO, and incinerators.
- Perform calibrations on production equipment.
- Understand basic welding, plumbing, and electrical practices.
- Understand basic electrical diagrams.
- Perform simple mathematical calculations.
- Support facility projects at the direction of the department manager/supervisor.
- Warehouse / Shipping & Receiving Duties:
- Unload/load trucks.
- Inspect and receive incoming materials.
- Stage material for outgoing shipments.
- Complete/prepare documentation and enter transaction data in ERP System.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, drum dollies, and other warehouse equipment.
- Maintain, organize, and clean the material warehouse.
- Handle/process hazardous materials and waste per CPI SOPs.
- Stage materials for sampling and manufacturing.
- Stock materials and perform cycle counts when necessary.
- Schedule emptying of trash compactors.
- Follow all CPI cGMP and CPI safety practices, policies, and procedures.
- Employees at CPI work with and/or are familiar with the GMP requirements for Food, Dietary Supplements, Pharmaceuticals, or other elements of each.
- Depending on the position, the employee will be aware of Halal and/or Kosher requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education/Skills/Knowledge Required
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience operating material handling equipment (pallet jack, pallet exchanger, drum dollies, etc.)
- Knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) preferred.
- Strong attention to detail for inspection of materials and accurate documentation.
- Basic understanding of the purpose and contents of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs).
- Knowledge of various types of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and how/when to use it.
- Ability to read, legibly write, and speak English at a level necessary for efficient performance of job duties.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members, co-workers, contractors, vendors, and/or clients.
