Job Description

Kinovate Life Sciences (KLS) is the leading manufacturer and provider of solid support for oligonucleotide synthesis. The incumbent in this position is responsible for performing manufacturing activities at KLS, including but not limited to: materials procurement, planning, scheduling and finished product manufacturing. Assignment and coordination of Production activities to Production specialists.

Directly reporting to the Production Manager and working with the QA/QC, Supply Chain and Engineering departments, this position will also ensure all production process are documented and executed accurately according to established SOPs. The ideal candidate possesses a chemical or biological background with 5-7 years of experience leading small groups in a GMP/ISO manufacturing environment.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that health and safety guidelines are strictly followed.
  • Prepares for production by reviewing production schedule, reviewing specifications, calculating requirements, assembling materials and supplies for loaded solid supports (oligos).
  • Maintains an inventory for all consumables required for manufacturing.
  • Ensures and assigns the production activities to the production specialists according to established procedures and other regulatory requirements.
  • Completes and review manufacturing documentation and material balance calculation according to production scheduling and work orders.
  • Maintain good manufacturing and documentation practices and reviews for accuracy and completeness according to established timelines.
  • Ensures Production equipment is maintained and in compliance with preventative maintenance programs and calibration. Monitor the correct functionality of the production equipment. Report to Production manager any deviation or failure of the equipment.
  • Provide training and coaching to new Production specialist hires.
  • Sets up, cleans, operates and maintains all production equipment.
  • Works with QA team to implement the quality policies and goals and draft production-related procedures, as needed.
  • Provides the support, assistance and human resources to R&D for process improvements and implementation of new products.
  • Executes performance review of the Production specialists.
  • Strong written skills for SOP, batch record, and document revisions.
  • Self motivated and able to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Communicates clearly and acts as the liaison between the Production department and other departments.
  • Performs other activities as required by the business.

Requirements:

  • BS degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or relevant science degree.
  • 5-7 years of relevant work experience preferred.
  • Able to attend to details and act decisively.
  • Familiarity with production equipment including reactors, stirrer, vacuum pumps, and vacuum ovens.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, manage changing priorities and meet deadlines consistently.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, written, oral presentation, and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have excellent organizing and time-managing skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel

Physical Job Requirements:

Office/Lab environment. Lifting to 50 pounds may be required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use their hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone keypad or to write, as well as talk and hear. They are required to stand, walk or sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
