Child Care Assistant Director

As an Assistant Director of Childcare, you play a crucial role in supporting the overall management and operations of the childcare facility. Working closely with the Director of Childcare, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality and developmentally appropriate care for children. Your role involves a combination of administrative tasks, staff supervision, and active engagement with children and parents.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Management:
- Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of childcare programs.
- Ensure that programs align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with the Director to create age-appropriate curricula and activities that promote child development.
Staff Supervision and Development:
- Supervise childcare staff, providing guidance, support, and constructive feedback.
- Conduct regular staff meetings and training sessions to enhance professional development.
- Assist in the recruitment, hiring, and orientation of new childcare staff.
Parent Communication:
- Establish and maintain effective communication with parents regarding their child's progress, activities, and any concerns.
- Organize and participate in parent-teacher conferences, events, and workshops.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations governing childcare facilities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including attendance, health, and emergency contact information.
Marketing:
- Creating an effective marketing strategy for a childcare center is crucial for attracting families and building a positive reputation in the community. Here's a comprehensive guide on marketing for a childcare center.
Safety and Emergency Preparedness:
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Conduct regular safety drills and ensure a secure environment for children and staff.
Quality Assurance:
- Conduct regular assessments of the childcare programs to ensure quality and effectiveness.
- Work with the Director to implement improvements based on feedback and observations.
Collaboration with Director:
- Assist the Director in strategic planning and decision-making for the childcare center.
- Act as the Director in their absence, assuming leadership responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (preferred). CDA also preferred.
- Previous experience in a childcare setting, with a demonstrated understanding of child development principles.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and licensing requirements.
- CPR and First Aid certification.

Annual training in development and care is required of all our staff.
