Stillwater Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation is a 75-bed skilled nursing facility located in the heart of Covington, Ohio seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing(ADON) to join our leadership team and support quality clinical outcomes in a long-term care setting.

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) supports the Director of Nursing in overseeing daily clinical operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, promoting high-quality resident care, and fostering a positive and professional work environment.

Responsibilities for Assistant Director of Nursing(ADON)

Clinical & Leadership Oversight

  • Assist the Director of Nursing with daily clinical operations and nursing department oversight

  • Provide leadership and support to RNs, LPNs, and STNAs to ensure competent, compassionate care

  •  Supervise staffing, assignments, and daily workflow on assigned units

  • Oversee skilled hall management, including clinical follow-up, documentation compliance, and care coordination

  • Participate in admissions, discharges, and transitions of care

  • Serve as Manager on Duty as scheduled

Infection Prevention & Clinical Compliance

  • Oversee and support the facility’s infection prevention and control program

  • Ensure staff compliance with hand hygiene, PPE use, isolation precautions, and cleaning protocols

  • Monitor infection trends and support audits, reporting, and education

  • Assist with regulatory surveys, audits, and plan of correction implementation

Education & Staff Development

  • Conduct new hire interviews and support onboarding processes

  • Provide second-day PCC training and ongoing clinical education for new staff

  • Identify performance gaps and provide coaching and competency validation

  • Support continuing education and skill development for nursing staff

Programs & Operational Support

  • Oversee NAR (Nurse Aide Registry/Training Program) coordination and compliance

  • Manage rental equipment and supply tracking to ensure proper use and documentation

  • Support scheduling needs and staffing coverage

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure person-centered care delivery

  • Support QAPI initiatives and quality improvement efforts

Team & Culture

  • Promote a respectful, accountable, and team-focused work environment

  • Assist with employee coaching, counseling, and performance management

  • Step in for the Director of Nursing in their absence when needed

Requirements for Assistant Director of Nursing(ADON)

  • Current RN license in the state of Ohio

  • Current hands on CPR certification

  • Long-term care/skilled nursing experience required

  • Leadership or supervisory experience preferred

  • Strong knowledge of state and federal regulations

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to lead, mentor, and hold teams accountable
