Higher education association is looking for an entry level Finance Assistant that is a detail oriented and flexible individual, to join our team! A friendly, outgoing person with good communication and organizational skills who learns quickly and will thrive in this fast-paced, energizing environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Completes payments and controls expenses by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices
- Charges expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice/expense reports, recording entries
- Prepare bank reconciliation of one cash account, including preparation of journal entries
- Enter journal entries in accounting system (Sage 300)
- Verifies vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions, including 1099-NEC amounts
- Assistance with audit schedules
- Serving onsite for our in-person annual meeting conference
Requirements:
- One to two years’ experience in nonprofit accounting preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
- Proficiency with automated accounting system(s)
- Familiarity with membership systems (Clear Vantage) preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance preferred.

Additional Salary Information: 100% medical and dental coverage for staff; 50% medical and dental coverage for family; 10% Employer contribution to your 403 B based on salary; two weeks’ vacation in years one and two, three weeks’ vacation in years 3-5, 4 weeks’ vacation after 5 years; office is closed between December 24 – January 1, and 8 additional paid holidays from January – November plus a floating holiday each year. We are located in the Farragut North neighborhood of NW DC easily accessible by Metro. This employer participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S.
You must live in Washington, DC, VA, or MD to be eligible for this position. The first 30 days you will work from the NCURA Office as you get to know your team and the Organization. After that, you can work from the office between 1 and 5 days a week. The one day that is required is Wednesdays with the Finance team. There may be times during the year that you may be in an additional day/day(s) a week as activities require.
