Job Description

Under the general direction of the VP/Department Manager of Architecture, the Architect manages the design, evaluation, and development of architectural plans for building projects. Monitors projects and consultants to ensure compliance with budgets, schedules, contracts, and specifications. Inspects construction work in progress, prepares bid specifications, reviews drawings to conform with established codes, safety standards and owner intent; provides technical advice and assistance to other managers and staff in connection with proposed and scheduled projects. Provides and encourages a high level of technical expertise and professional judgment in the execution of duties. Supervises staff as needed.

Typical Duties

  • Develops ideas with clients, produces detailed, drawings, and specifications, manages plans, designs, and bid drawings, along with cost estimates for various building projects. Considers the impact within the local environment.
  • Assists in implementing the day-to-day operations of the architecture department by preparing work schedules, reports, correspondence, budgets, plans, and directives relative to proposed projects and/or works in progress.
  • Provides technical guidance and assistance to engineers, staff, and other managers in connection with various projects.
  • Attends department review meetings to provide input and discuss goals and objectives.
  • Inspects drawings in progress for compliance with established contract specifications and applicable codes and standards.
  • Maintains neat and accurate records, logs, and drawings for projects.

 

Qualifications

  • NCARB certification or ability to obtain NCARB certification
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree of Architecture from an accredited college/university preferred
  • 8+ years of related architectural experience with a focus on construction documentation preferred
  • Proficiency in, Revit, SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suite/Creative Cloud, MS Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) preferred
  • Experience in greenfield, and large construction projects
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills; pride themselves on providing the highest quality solutions to our clients
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Motivated team player with team attitude
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to take direction and lead with minimal supervision
  • Responsible for researching and applying knowledge of state and local codes
