Utility Pipe Foreman

Position: HEAVY CONSTRUCTION/CIVIL PIPE FOREMAN

Hours: Monday-Friday from 7:00 AM-5:00 PM varying upon schedule. Some Saturday work is required because of unfavorable weather during the week.

POSITION SUMMARY: Supervises the layout, assembly and installation of storm drains, sanitary sewer, waterlines and
associated structures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Reviews project plans and specifications with company management to plan and coordinate schedule and procedures
• Supervises the daily activities of 4 to 6 people.
• Operates heavy equipment on occasion as the project and schedule demands.
• Inspects the worksite to determine sequencing and methods and surveys for potential hazard and safety concerns.
• Responsible for crew safety.
• Enforces company policies.
• Comply with federal, state and company environmental policies.
• Observes assigned equipment to detect machinery malfunctions.
• Inspects the work to ensure that workmanship conforms to project specifications and schedules.
• Uses instruments such as lasers, grade rods, eye levels and transit levels to set grade for pipe installation.
• Must be willing to travel to an area within a 50 mile radius of Fredericksburg, VA.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 5 years supervising in a similar environment on heavy civil projects.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ABILITIES

• Constant physical effort, including standing, is required during the work shift. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, and to stoop, bend, and crouch as required to perform key duties.
• Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds and as much as 90 pounds as may be assigned.
• Maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, and the operation of mobile and stationary equipment.
• Must be able to climb on and off heavy equipment safely.
• Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions.
