Description

The Maintenance Manager will manage the mechanical integrity program, provide and support Risk Based Inspection analysis, perform pressure equipment assessments develop repair plans, supervise general mechanical work, provide expertise on equipment design/selection and enforce plant policies and procedures.

Essential Functions / Key Accountabilities


  • In collaboration with Engineering Manager, develops Preventive and Predictive Maintenance plans
  • Develops Equipment Strategy to maximize equipment lifetime and minimize unplanned downtimes
  • Following areas will fall under Maintenance Engineer scope of responsibility:
    • Static equipment: Pressure vessels, Piping, Valves, Heat Exchangers, Storage vessels
    • Machinery equipment : pumps, blowers, compressors, Agitators,
    • Instruments: Flow meters, Level, Pressure, Gas Detectors, Junction Boxes, etc
    • Electrical: MCCs, Motors, breakers, switch gears, Electrical Tracing equipment, light fixtures, etc
  • Accountable for scheduling and execution of all maintenance activities
  • Accountable for estimating and controlling maintenance costs, budgeting and making adjustments to stay within budget
  • The Maintenance Manager will provide and support Risk Based Inspection analysis, perform pressure equipment damage assessments
  • Provide mechanical engineering expertise in troubleshooting equipment issues, evaluation of equipment failures and technical recommendations for repairs/upgrades
  • Manage, coordinate and implement all MI relate activities
  • Assists in developing key metrics to measure the site maintenance performance and develop improvement plans
  • Responsible for spare parts/inventory program to optimize production downtime
  • Responsible for coordinating plant shutdowns with operations
  • Projects:
    • Provides input during FEL and Definition phase of projects
    • Supports Projects Department with identifying Maintenance requirements for Capital projects
    • Planning and Field execution of small size (< $30K) projects
    • For Larger projects, Provides support and coordination with vendors, contractors, as needed and requested by Project Manager
  • Assist compliance with process design standards and practices for the MCH site - maintain existing practices and implement improvements to stay current with industry best-practices.
  • Accountable for supervision, development, and performance management of direct reports
  • Identify data that needs to be highlighted for discussion and potential intervention.
  • Accountable for compliance with all pertinent internal/external regulatory requirements (HSE, Process Safety, Management of Change, Mechanical Integrity, Compliance Reporting, Action Item Closure, etc.).
  • Maintenance of ISO 9001:2008 certifications for the business by complying with processes, procedures and instructions for all activities in which this role participates
  • Complies with all pertinent safety policies, rules and regulations

Education

B.S. Mechanical Engineering

Experience / Required Skills

· 15 years' experience in MI and maintenance in the oil and gas, refining, or chemical industries

· Leadership and effective people management skills.

· Demonstrated ability to master mechanical equipment, manufacturing and chemical process equipment, product and process knowledge

· Demonstrated ability to evaluate and optimize processes

· Understanding of engineering principles and how to apply methods to existing equipment

· Experience with preventative and predictive maintenance techniques

· Experience/knowledge troubleshooting mechanical equipment, to include leading Root Cause Failure Analysis and driving corrective/preventative actions from it

· Ability to work in an on-call capacity for plant emergencies.

· Creative problem solving and critical thinking skills.

· Must be able to foster effective relationships with Production and other functional areas.

· Demonstrated ability to act decisively and deliver results.

· Demonstrated experience with manufacturing safety programs

· Strong communication skills.

Physical Demands

  • Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long periods of time, up to 12 hours per day.
  • Working from a seated position for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms one to two times per day.
  • Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling and walking, standing or crouching on narrow or slippery surfaces.

  • Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force, exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 15 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force consistently to move objects forward, downward or outward.
  • Using upper extremities to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 15 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force consistently to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Raising objects up to 25 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 15 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds consistently from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.
  • Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  • Possible subject to environmental conditions. Activities could occur inside and outside.
  • Subject to extreme heat. Temperatures above 100 for periods of more than one hour.
  • Subject to vibration. Exposure to movements of the extremities or whole body. Operate/drive utility vehicle.
  • Subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE for tasks as required. FRC uniform, hard hat, safety toe work boots, safety glasses, gloves etc.
