Under the direct supervision of the Business Service Specialist, the Accounting Associate will be responsible for performing accounting clerical tasks for both the Library and the Gallery as separate departments.
Specific duties and responsibilities include:
- Prepare cash receipt documentation for daily deposit.
- Process invoices in UMBC PAW for Library Serials and Monographs daily.
- Process requisitions, contracts and payment requests for all Library Departments.
- Process payment using the UMBC purchasing card while maintaining backup documentation.
- Process all Library supply orders using the purchasing card or PAW system.
- Monitoring transactions and budget for accuracy.
- Serve as a P-Card reallocator to the Gallery staff
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Four years accounting clerical experience. Customer service experience and/or cash handling and payment processing experience.
- Must be skilled in performing mathematical computations, operating a calculator and utilizing analytical techniques to reconcile financial data.
- Thorough knowledge of bookkeeping principles, mathematical methods and techniques and accounting standards.
- The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to work independently with little supervision.
- NOTE: Additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to prepare written records and reports.
- Experience in PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and PeopleSoft Financial systems is a plus.
- Proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets.
- One year of supervisory experience.
