Summary

The Staff Photographer is responsible for shooting product, lifestyle and food focused photography. You should have a strong desire to constantly refine and improve creative output while producing high-end photographic images. The Staff Photographer will work closely with the Director of Photo and Food Stylists to produce and compose beautiful lifestyle & on white product imagery. Secondary focus for this role will be producing recipe imagery for cookbooks to be included in packaging and content for social media. This position is full-time on-site at our corporate office in Mahwah, New Jersey, and reports to the Director of Photo.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Capture the functionality, features, benefits, and uniqueness of individual products
• Organizing and planning for shoots
• Create on-brand product, lifestyle and food images
• Determine desired compositions, props, settings and lighting to achieve desired results
• Maintain and adhere to product photography guidelines to ensure a coherent and singular photography voice across the brand
• Process, retouch, resize and enhance images as needed
• Clearly communicate and work with staff retouchers to execute high quality final images
• Interact with multiple stakeholders to ensure deadlines are met and results are high-quality
• Safely operate and maintain all equipment and working environment
• Maintain file naming and handling conventions so that files are easily found in our DAM database

Skills & Experience

• Advanced skills in highly technical product lighting
• Ability to shoot on white, lifestyle and food focused content
• Expert knowledge of Adobe Photoshop & Capture One
• Expert knowledge of Canon camera equipment
• Strong knowledge of photography foundations, techniques, and lighting (Camera Raw interface)
• High level knowledge of retouching and compositing required
• Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
• Knowledgeable and up to date on the current product & food photography trends
• Strong eye for composition
• Superb color vision
• Solid problem-solving abilities
• Capacity to shoot intuitively with ability to take direction and feedback
• Dedication to a teamwork focused, fun, & collaborative environment

Education & Experience Required

• Bachelors in Photography or related field preferred
• 4+ years high level commercial product and food photography experience across various industries/clients and understanding of a broad range of production needs
• Current portfolio with relevant work required
