Verland is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Employee and Labor Relations Manager to join our team. In this crucial role, you will be involved with representing the company in Employee Relations and labor negotiations and Collective Bargaining Agreements. Your main objective will be a central point of contact for managers and supervisors as an advisor for complex employee relations matters and as a resource of support and guidance for performance and labor relations.


Contributions:

  • Provides comprehensive HR services and support aligned with core values; understands and supports business priorities.
  • Maintains positive employee relations through the consistent administration of company policies and practices.
  • Provides strong problem-solving in a professional, positive, and friendly manner.
  • Conducts investigations and makes recommendations for disciplinary actions, documenting all relevant matters and maintaining employee records. Ensure satisfactory labor relations guidance and direction, at all levels, on contractual and policy interpretation.
  • Leads team in settling grievances with union-represented employees.
  • Ensure compliance, adherence, and application of CBA and policies are administered and addressed effectively.
  • Assist in improving management/workforce relations through the development and implementation of an effective policies, CBA, labor relations training program.
  • Ensuring contractual obligations, (job bids, contractual days) are met and maintained for the life of the CBA. Provides support to department supervisors and managers on consistent interpretation and application of wage agreement obligations.
  • Lead, partner, and consult in the preparation and organization of human resources and labor relations reporting.
  • Perform routine human resource assignments as directed.
  • This position performs work onsite.

Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related business degree
  • Three (3) to five (5) years progressive Human Resources experience required
  • PHR/SPHR highly desirable
  • Proficient with HRIS and EMRs
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Suite applications.
  • Demonstrated experience providing strategic communications, counsel, and advice to management and other partners, especially regarding employee relations or labor relations.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of labor law, labor relations, collective bargaining practices, and contract interpretation.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and leading investigations for complex employee relations issues.
  • Ability to effectively multitask and handle complex, multilayered issues with competing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language required
