Official Job Title: Robot Operator

General Description of Job:

The robot operator will work alongside the fabrication team by providing general robotic and automation oversight and support for manufacturing operations. The individual will run the automated equipment while leading programming and other necessary steps to set up the machine, perform general machine oversight, and basic work cell installation and updates. The robot operator will perform routine and preventative maintenance of automated equipment. The support and collaboration of the robot operator will ensure the quality, accountability, safety, and reliability of customer projects assigned.

Duties & Responsibilities to include but not limited to:
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of principles, applications of equipment, tools, and processes that involve production equipment in the manufacturing setting.
  • Understand varied materials, safe handling the application of settings, and temperatures regarding precision cutting of material.
  • Assist in providing expertise and feedback with hardware, design, and programming with production processes with materials such as stainless steel, carbon steel and aluminimum.
  • Ability to demonstrate PLC programming including digital and industrial field buses.
  • Understanding functions of PLC systems and the applications of achieving the outcomes of projects.
  • Knowledge of industrial motor control principles including how they are installed, and maintained and any necessary basic repairs to fix issues.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems functions and applications of PLCs (programmable logic controllers).
  • Knowledge of components and drivers.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve machine/equipment issues with the ability identify quality defects.
  • Checking finished fabricated and assembled parts to ensure the robot is making parts as needed.
  • Knowledge of completing test runs of modules and assembled automated systems.
  • Knowledge of general/preventative maintenance procedures on automated and robotic machinery.
  • Maintain, update, and follow all Standards of Procedures (SOP's) applying to robots and equipment within the department.
  • Other duties assigned.

Experience:
  • Basic math knowledge of linear measurement and metrics.
  • 3+ years of working in a fabrication and/or manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics/blueprints, and work instructions.
  • 3+ years' experience in AutoCAD/Mastercam/Octopuz software.
  • 3+ years of experience in troubleshooting/maintenance skills.
  • Must be able to lift to 50 lbs.
  • 3+ years working on Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and robots experience.
  • 1-3 years of knowledge of Kuka robots and programming.
