Assistant Mechanic

Job description

The Country Club of Birmingham is looking for a trained mechanic with a minimum of 2 years’ experience at a golf course. The successful candidate for the Golf Course Assistant Mechanic position will have the ability to diagnose and fix mechanical problems, keep all mowing equipment operable and properly sharpened, keep service records and maintain an orderly work area. The ideal applicant will have working knowledge of hydraulics, automotive electronics, gas and arc welding and gas/diesel engines. The Country Club of Birmingham has been in business for 125 years and is a great place to work.

Duties and Key responsibilities:

§ Overhauls, repairs and lubricate maintenance vehicles, mowing equipment, and other power equipment.

§ Inspect equipment for operating deficiencies and make routine adjustments where necessary.

§ Adjust cutting units on mowing equipment.

§ Inspect, changes and repairs tires.

§ Working knowledge of hydraulics, automotive electronics, gas and arc welding and gas/diesel engines.

§ Cleans working area after repair work is completed.

§ Keep service records and maintain an orderly work area.

§ Observe all safety and training guidelines.

§ Any other duties assigned by supervisor

Skills and Qualifications

§ High School Diploma or Equivalent

§ Valid State Driver License

§ Two years minimum requirement as a trained mechanic; golf course experience preferred.

§ Must be a quick learner and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

§ Excellent verbal and written communications skills to communicate effectively with others.

§ Bilingual communications in English / Spanish preferred

§ Must be able to move and lift to 60 pounds at a time.

§ A reliable Team player, willingness to and be adaptable to challenging situations.

§ Must have basic tools.

Schedule:

• M-F; 8-hour shift
• Every 3rd Saturday for 4 hours in the morning
• 40 per week plus some overtime
• Some overtime required occasionally for tournaments, etc.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
