Job Description

Summary:
Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of assigned projects to ensure that project goals are met Quality, schedule adherence, contribution improvement, over billings, timely collections, and customer satisfaction by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned
  • Reviews project plans and specifications to determine schedule, sequences, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
  • Review contracts to ensure scope, schedule and price agree with negotiated estimates
  • Establish job plan and staffing requirements for each phase of project, and assign project personnel.
  • Coordinates with project staff to outline job plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope
  • Direct and coordinate activities of MAK Steel Services personnel, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
  • Reviews the requirements of equipment to erect the steel on the jobsite. Works with operations manager and field superintendent to ensure proper equipment has been procured.
  • Perform field verification of dimensions that are required to complete the detailing of the project.
  • Review drawings from our detailer before they are sent in for approval. Must ensure scope of work is properly depicted and our detailing and shop standards are met.
  • Review BFA drawings to ensure all comments and questions have been addressed. Verify that that no additional work was added per changes made in BFA drawings.
  • Review RFF drawings to ensure that all BFA comments have been incorporated in the drawings. Also make sure our scope of work is covered no more and no less.
  • Stays in constant daily communication with field crews. To ensure proper tools, personnel and equipment are onsite to maintain schedules and budgets.
  • Modifies schedule or plans as required.
  • Coordinates with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.
  • Set up internal/external job schedule.
  • Writes purchase orders to subs/vendors.
  • Monitors change orders and outstanding quotes.
  • Responsible for assuring most recent contract documents have been received
  • Leads pre-construction meetings.
  • Monitors job progress and adherence to schedule.
  • Assists detailing with problems and question resolution.
  • Prepares progress billings.
  • Monitors site schedule.
  • Advises Operations Manager of delivery requirements.
  • Coordinates vendor deliveries.
  • Monitors errors and back charges.
  • Prepares close-out documents.

Qualifications:

  • Education and/or Experience Bachelors Degree (B.A.) from Four-Year College or University; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Mathematical Skills Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Spreadsheet software; and Word Processing software
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations None required

Other Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to read architectural drawings, contracts, and specifications
