Job Description
SUMMARY

The Trainer and Foster Care Recruiter will be responsible for ensuring a continuing pool of prospective and well-trained applicants for foster care licensure, leading the retention efforts of current foster families and assisting in outreach activities for La Paloma foster care programs. The position will be the first point of contact for the Foster Care program and must always exemplify the philosophy and mission of the program.


DUTIES


Recruit and develop foster families who have the ability and desire to provide foster care to the vulnerable youth of Pima County.

Function as a point of contact for and establish positive relationships with prospective foster families.

Attend/plan community foster care recruitment activities to attract prospective foster families, as well as be the contact person for outside agencies for La Paloma Family Services.

Provide regular, effective, and structured training, such as Foster Parent College, to prospective foster families. Use the training period as an evaluation tool to decide the appropriateness of licensure for any participants.

Ensure evaluation of training, including the creation, distribution, and analysis of results/outcomes of training offered.

Develop a marketing and recruitment plan to connect with potential foster parents and to promote the agency foster care program. * Implement plans through multiple marketing activities which may include visibility campaigns, web and print advertising, networking and community meetings, presentations, media outreach and website development.

Identify, cultivate, solicit, and maintain relationships with community groups, churches, educational institutions, associations and other community entities to ensure visibility for the agency's foster care program.

Coordinate creation and production of high quality, compelling marketing materials in accordance with agency guidelines that inform and educate prospective volunteers.

Receive incoming calls and emails regarding foster care recruitment and conduct follow-up calls to any individual inquiring about this program. Conduct initial screening and meet with viable prospects in one-on-one or group information sessions.

Track all foster care recruitment activities (contacts, visits, presentations, community events) and prospects and results.

Conduct information sessions with groups and individuals for prospective foster parents. * Work with the agency Recruitment Team for the overall development, implementation, monitoring and maintenance of a quality recruitment program. Contribute to joint presentations and events and other marketing opportunities.

Complete initial and renewal home studies as needed. Conduct appropriate monitoring visits as assigned.

Employee must be able to monitor consumer activities, with or without a reasonable accommodation.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in social work, Family Studies, Psychology, Child Development, or related field.

Associates degree in child welfare related studies.

Minimum two years of experience in child welfare or human services, specifically monitoring and licensing foster homes.

Previous experience in writing home studies and assessments of family systems.

Excel in time management, organization, and meeting deadlines.

Experience working with kinship families.

Certification Foster Parent College Trainer.

Ability to work cooperatively and independently with agency personnel at all levels.

Willingness to adapt to a constantly changing environment.

Able to work under minimal supervision and meet periodic deadlines.

Good communication skills with internal staff and the general public.

Good verbal and written communication skills.


Other Potential Requirements


Bilingual (Spanish/English) is helpful

Availability to work evening and weekend hours

Ability to participate in play/recreational activities

Fingerprint clearance if working with children or in a 24 hr facility.
