Job Description

Summary

The Process Engineer is responsible for leading the development and optimization of manufacturing processes and practices to ensure sustainability and continuous improvement of WPP facilities and supporting processes. The role will also direct, oversee and implement engineering projects within the area of assigned responsibility by performing the duties individually or leading a team.

Responsibilities:

Process engineer has responsibilities in three core areas:

  • Safety.
  • Quality.
  • Capacity.

Safety:

As a member of the engineering team, the process engineer has an important role in the Audia Safety Way (ASW). The process engineer must provide direction, standard definition and tools that will help to live the ASW and at the same time become agents of change and promoters of a safe operation.

Essential responsibilities of an HSE Process:

  • Formal problem-solving for critical events
    • Injuries, High Risk Shock Watches, Fires, Significant Equipment Damage
  • Completion of HSE Compliance Training
  • Active employee engagement through a Safety Committee
  • Completion of behavioral observations
  • Environmental Compliance inspection(s)
  • HSE discussions with the Plant Leadership Team
  • Maintain plant working conditions in a safe compliant manner

Quality:

As a member of the engineering team, the process engineer has a significant role in the WP Quality Process. The process engineer must provide standard definition, procedures and work instructions that will maintain Audia’s core value of Customer Reverence.

Essential responsibilities of the quality process:

  • Anticipate problems by becoming more familiar with processes – spend time on the floor, inspect lines regularly, learn from plant personnel, track and analyze process conditions and supporting production reports, and make necessary adjustments to ensure the accuracy of data.
  • Develops, trains, and audits standardized work to support manufacturing practices.
  • Support and implement the Process FMEA program
  • Initiate day-to-day troubleshooting and long-term problem-solving.
  • Validate and manage feeder and material handling parameters and alarms.

Capacity

The process engineer as a member of the engineering team has a strategic role in the WP Capacity and Growth goals. The goal translates into new capacity through the execution of OEE improvements.

Essential responsibilities of the process engineer:

  • Implements lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Establish consistent processes using a collaborative approach with manufacturing and engineering personnel.
  • Leads the development and optimization of OEE processes and practices for their facility
  • Participate in product development through process concepts and tools and line coverage.
  • Develop methods to communicate with key stakeholders and develop methods to train employees on gaps identified.
  • Evaluate current process flow utilizing lean tools and recommend improvements.
  • Follow available engineering standards with new equipment designs and upgrades.
  • Inspect, track and analyze screws and barrels in accordance with WPP Program.
  • Observe changeover time and effectiveness (make recommendations to improve).
  • Review, edit and create work instructions, controlled documentation, energy control documents, etc.
  • Research and make recommendations regarding preventative maintenance details & schedule for equipment.
  • Collaborates with other facilities across WPP to ensure consistency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field required
  • At least 3 years of experience in manufacturing industries, providing sustainable solutions and continuous improvement for an organization preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills with the ability and desire to communicate well in both written and verbal forms.
  • Must be willing and able to travel 30% of the time.
  • Skilled in the use of basic computer software, including Microsoft Word and Excel, comfortable with utilizing systems for operations and maintenance
