Senior Project Manager - Commercial Construction– New Orleans, LA

Gulf States Construction is seeking a Senior Project Manager with experience in commercial podium style construction to join our team. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently, possess excellent communication, management, problem-solving, and organizational skills with a strong focus on safety. The primary duties of this position will revolve around new hotel projects in New Orleans and estimating as a secondary function.

Responsibilities:

· Perform or review material takeoffs, recruit subcontractors, procure and analyze bids, and create budgets for new projects.

. Work with subcontractors, architects, and engineers to value engineer projects during design development and preliminary budgeting.

· Establish the project schedule and manage all phases of the construction process and project schedule throughout the course of the project to ensure the project is completed on time and within budget.

· Issue purchase orders for materials and labor

· Coordinate and direct construction workers and subcontractors.

· Effectively plan to prevent problems and resolve any emerging ones.

· Implement and monitor procedures to protect the health and safety of job site employees, visitors, and the public.

· Communicate and work with subcontractors, inspectors, architects, and owners to ensure completion of tasks.

Requirements:

· Proven working experience in commercial construction management

· Advanced knowledge of construction management processes, means and methods

· Expert knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards

· Understanding of all facets of the construction process

· Familiarity with construction management software packages

· Ability to plan and see the “big picture”

· Competent in conflict and crisis management

· Leadership and human resources management skills

· Excellent time and project management skills
