Job Description

 

These are the requirements for skilled work in the maintenance, repair, programming, and modification of a variety of BAS/DDC equipment and related HVAC equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Graduation from high school or vocational school.
- Minimum of five (5) years experience in programming, operating, maintaining, and repairing BAS and DDC systems.
- Able to pass a background check.
- Valid non-commercial Class C motor vehicle operator's license.

- This position will be located in the New Orleans area

NATURE AND VARIETY OF WORK

Using software tools and procedures to deal with a variety of control systems, the candidate will be expected to program controllers, integrate to third party systems, create graphics, troubleshoot, maintain, and execute functional performance testing on Building Automation Systems (BAS) to meet contractual requirements and project goals.

Examples of Duties and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Programs and commissions Local DDC I/O and network controllers and the BAS front end

(GUI) computers per sequences of operation and contract documents.
Offers support and maintenance to 3rd party systems/equipment such as BACnet, LON, and Modbus on Chillers, Boilers, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD's), Generators, Rooftop Units (RTU’s), Air Handler Units (AHU's), Differential Pressure Transmitters, etc.

Follows company established programming standards and precedents.

Provides on site technical/operational support to customers to operate, maintain, and repair any situation that is presented.

Participates in on site walk-throughs, formal commissioning, and customer demonstration/training on assigned projects.

Organizes and maintains job folder and updates pertinent job related information.

Completes all project documentation, including program backups and adjusted as-built drawings.

Completes assigned projects on time, within budget, and per contractual requirements.

Generates weekly progress reports to the Project Manager and participates in progress meetings as directed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices applied in the operation, maintenance, and repair of BAS and HVAC equipment.

Advanced computer skills, including creating graphics for commercial BAS graphical user interfaces (GUI).

Solid knowledge and practical experience regarding computer and BAS Networks.

Advanced knowledge of the controls concepts and strategies for commercial building HVAC mechanical systems.

Strong understanding of commercial buildings and medical facilities regarding mechanical & electrical operations.

Understanding and practical experience with the Electrical and Electronics concepts associated with BAS Direct Digital Control Systems (DDC).

Experience programming the following product lines is preferred: Tridium, JCI Metasys, Trane Tracer, and Phoenix Control Systems. Programming experience with any other product lines is also a plus.

Ability to proficiently read Mechanical and Electrical blueprints.

Physical ability to walk construction sites, including stairs and ladders.

Ability to deal with problems on a priority basis and investigate all alternatives.

Ability to maintain adequate records and reports.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, subordinates, and the public.

Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
