Under broad guidance, the System Maintenance Technician is responsible for leading teams in the operation, repair, and maintenance of wastewater pipeline and pumping systems, including pressurized pipelines, gravity mains, and pumping stations. This role includes hands-on technical work requiring expertise in the operation of heavy equipment and mechanical systems.

Job Requirements
Education
Required
• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of HRSD's apprenticeship program courses or equivalent.
Desired
• Additional technical training or coursework in mechanical or utility maintenance.
Experience
Required
Completion of all on-the-job training skills or approved equivalent
Desired
• Experience leading teams.
• Experience in utility operations, industrial/mechanical repair, or construction environments.
• Experience with heavy construction equipment such as backhoes, excavators, hydraulically operated tools, and sewer flusher trucks.
• Understanding of utility systems with an emphasis on sanitary sewer.
Licenses and Certifications Requirements
• Valid driver's license from state of residence.
• Class A Commercial Driver's License with H (Hazardous Materials) and N (Tank Vehicle) endorsements (to be obtained within 12 months of appointment).
