COMPUTER TECHNICIAN I
Position Summary:Â
The Computer Technician I, under direction of the Technology Supervisor or designee, is involved in computer maintenance and associated limited area network activities. Work is usually performed under immediate supervision although work assignments that are repetitive in nature, once learned, can be carried out without difficulty under only general supervision. Assignments include software installation or parts replacement and occasional operating system troubleshooting.
 Qualifications:Â
- Must possess a general computer and networking background.
- Must be able to assist in the maintenance and repair of computers and related equipment and able to perform tasks independently, follow oral and written direction, learn operating policies and procedures, comprehend written material and interpret and apply rules and instructions.
- Must be able to establish and maintain cooperative relations with those contacted in the course of work.
- Must possess the potential and initiative to upgrade computer maintenance skills through on-the-job training or by other means.
- Capable of performing all work in a neat and professional manner.
- Must possess a valid State of Alaska motor vehicle operator's license with no insurance restrictions.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of students, staff, school business, materials, and information.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Ability to work well with public, students, staff and parents.

Position Summary:Â
The Computer Technician II, under direction of the Director of Information Technology or designee, is a position of skilled computer work experience and some technical ability involved in Local Area Networks, Wide Area Networks and associated service activities. These are performed in a wide variety of computer maintenance and enhancement duties combining several skills and knowledge areas. Work is usually performed with minimal supervision. Assignments frequently involve the use of specialized software and equipment. Work of this class requires previous computer experience plus initiative and judgment to work without close supervision as necessary.
 Qualifications:Â
- Must possess a general computer or networking background with a high skill level in a troubleshooting software and hardware issues.
- Must be able to follow oral and written directions, learn operating procedures and policies, comprehend written material and interpret and apply rules and instructions, establish and maintain cooperative relations with those contacted in the course of work, function independently when required, convey information orally or in writing.
- Have a working knowledge of all software utilized by the district.
- Capable of performing all work in a neat and professional manner.

The Computer Technician III, under the direction of the Director of Information Technology or designee, is an experienced position of skilled technical ability and supervisory work. Work performance covers a variety of skilled repair and network related tasks. Assignments frequently involve the use of standard and specialized software and tools as well as sophisticated testing equipment. Responsibilities extend to supervision and training of lower level maintenance personnel in the execution of assigned duties.
 Qualifications:Â
- Must possess an advanced computer and LAN technology knowledge.
- Must have the ability to competently and professionally construct, maintain, repair and improve computers, networks or related systems and equipment.
- Must have a working knowledge of the all software and hardware utilized by the school district with special emphasis on common applications and system architectures.
- Must have ability to interpret and follow troubleshooting documentation from all vendors and equipment manufactures.
- Must be able to follow oral and written directions, learn operating policies and procedures, comprehend written material and interpret and apply rules and instructions, establish and maintain cooperative relations with those contacted in the course of work, function with a moderate level of independence, convey information orally or in writing, and instruct and supervise subordinates as directed.
- Must be capable of performing all work in a neat and professional manner with the initiative and potential to continue to upgrade personal information technology skills.

Work performance involves the most complex tasks in computer repair, and installation of software and hardware including servers, network hardware and software and all other specialty equipment. This position frequently involves supervision and training of subordinates during the normal course of job assignments. Assignments frequently involve the use of standard and specialized software and tools as well as sophisticated testing equipment.
 Qualifications:Â
- Must possess an expert level of knowledge in the information technology field with a background in networking, hardware and cross-platform interconnectivity.
- Must have the ability to competently and professionally construct, maintain, repair and improve computers, networks or related systems and equipment.
- Must have advanced knowledge of the software and hardware utilized by the school district with special emphasis on common applications and system architectures.
