Job Title: Docketing Specialist
Location: Washington, D.C.
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days remote)
Compensation Range: Salary starts at $65,000, up to $95,000

This role primarily involves handling incoming communications and documents, as well as managing correspondence with clients, foreign associates, and vendors regarding new applications and formal requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assign new matter numbers and docket new patent and trademark applications.
  • Review and process transfer-in files, updating the docket system accordingly.
  • Docket incoming correspondences from the USPTO, PCT, and Foreign Associates as necessary.
  • Maintain the docket system by reviewing and updating it based on incoming and outgoing emails.
  • Ensure timely clearance of the docket to meet deadlines and maintain system accuracy.
  • Process Electronic Filing System (EFS) receipts and conduct quality control checks.
  • Prepare client status reports for attorneys as required.
  • Assist with overflow docketing and provide coverage as directed by the Docketing Manager.
  • Handle attorney special requests such as case closures and client matter changes.
  • Conduct electronic searches using USPTO, WIPO, and foreign websites as needed.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in U.S. and foreign patent prosecution procedures.
  • Familiarity with Inprotech® or similar docketing software products preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Team player mentality.
  • Some college education preferred.
