General Description:
The CT/MRI Supervisor reports to the Manager of Diagnostic Imaging. Responsible for the coordination of CT/MRI personnel, provision of efficient and accurate computerized scans based on patient diagnosis, and to oversee the operations of the Computerized Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging Departments. Responsible and accountable for department operations, fiscal/financial management, quality, service, environment of care/safety, risk management, and human resource management. The position shall exemplify the desired Culture of Choice and philosophies of Parrish Healthcare.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides all aspects of Diagnostic Radiology care based on established standards. Demonstrates competency in all procedures within the scope of practice, as appropriate to the ages of the patients served evidenced by: The ability to obtain information and interpret information in terms of the patients needs; a knowledge of growth and development; and understanding of how to compensate technical factors to provide an optimal clinical image for interpretation.
  • Responsible and accountable for department operations, fiscal/financial management, quality, service, environment of care/safety, risk management, and human resource management.
  • Interviews with patient, family members, nursing staff and physicians to collect pertinent information (patient history) to ensure an appropriate and efficient study.
  • Administers contrast agents when appropriate using established departmental criteria and CT/MRI guidelines for the correct agent, computer entry for charge capture and recognition of adverse patient reaction. Completes all necessary documentation related to contrast media use. This administration will only be permitted after receiving certification from the department registered nurse.
  • Prepares, organizes and is responsible for the quality of all CT/MRI examinations presented for interpretation by Radiologists. Completes accurate and timely PACS inputs.
  • Responsible for completed and accurate charging of CT/MRI procedures and related expenses. Monitors staff for compliance and takes corrective action when necessary.
  • Directs technical and other support staff associated with CT/MRI procedures, and prioritizes all inpatient, outpatients, and emergency CT/MRI procedures as appropriate.
  • Maintains cleanliness and general order of CT/MRI area. Responsible for the ordering of CT/MRI contrast and other supplies ensuring appropriate levels are maintained.
  • Responsible for training other radiologic technologists in CT/MRI operations and oversee students rotating through the CT/MRI Department.
  • Collaborates with the radiologist to establish CT/MRI protocols to optimize quality examinations. Reviews software updates by manufacturer.
  • Ensures patient and personal radiation protection by ascertaining pregnancy status when indicated and practicing ALARA principles (time, distance, shielding) of dose reduction.
  • Responsible for planning work schedules (i.e., on-call, daily and weekend) for CT/MRI staff. Responsible in matters relating to the selection, evaluation, discipline, termination, and in-service education of responsible staff. Ensures competency skills testing is complete and evaluates staff during probationary and annual periods.
  • Attends supervisory and staff meetings as appropriate and promotes the general professional attitude and objectives of the hospital to all patients, visitors, nursing, and medical staff.
  • Performs similar or related duties as assigned.
  • Knows fire, disaster and safety procedures and regulations as it pertains to the work area.
Requirements:

Formal Education:
  • Associates Degree, and or another Two-Year College equivalent required.
Work Experience:
  • > 2 years of experience required.
Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:
  • Florida State DOH License required.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Computed Tomography RT (R)(CT) required.
  • BCLS through the American Heart Association required.
