The Naval Academy Athletic Association (NAAA), a 501c3 (we are not a government agency), seeks a Controller that will report to the Chief Financial Officer of the NAAA. The Controller is primarily responsible for the accurate accounting of the Athletic Departments financial activities. This role will supervise accounting staff; oversee business operations for several sport and administrative cost centers; review, analyze, and distribute monthly cost center, sustainment and Blue & Gold reports to applicable parties; prepare monthly NAAA financial statements; assist and complete with transactional accounting items; perform account reconciliations; assist with the annual budget preparation; work closely with CFO on special projects; and improve operational processes and procedures. This role will also take part in the financial accounting of the Naval Academy Golf Association.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or Advanced Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance is preferred;
- Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in non-profit accounting or experience within a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) athletics program; and
- Minimum of three years supervisory experience of accounting staff; and substantial budgetary experience, accounting, audit preparation, and fiscal management background is required.
