Job Description

Food & Beverage Manager

Position Purpose:

The Aloft Anchorage is seeking a qualified professional to lead the Food & Beverage team. Candidate should be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment and able to prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks. Position is not a typical Monday through Friday schedule and will require working weekends and nights. The Food & Beverage Manager is primarily responsible for the operation of the bar (W XYZ) re:fuel which is the Aloft brand's 24-hour gourmet grab and go which also serves breakfast in a self-service environment as well as the food program within W XYZ and re:mix lounge. There is approximately 3,000 square feet of catering and event space, however food service is contracted out to an outside caterer. However, the Food & Beverage Manager is responsible for handling all beverage programs for catering/banquets.

Primary Tasks/Responsibilities:

• Ordering of food, alcoholic beverages, candies, snacks, and sundries for re:fuel (24-hour grab and go market)

• Maintain proper inventories and levels for both food and beverage

• Ensure that food, beverage, and market costs remain at or below budgeted levels

• Hands on operations of events in W XYZ bar, as well as the planning, organization, and promotion of same

• Ensure that all controls and SOPs are at 100% compliance levels

• Ensure required tools and supplies are readily available to attendant(s) to best serve the guest

• Act as the first management line of contact for all guest issues

• Responsible for the sourcing, interviewing/hiring and technical training of each re:fuel attendant, bartender and banquet set up Talent member(s)

• Ongoing responsibility to ensure the Aloft culture is maintained

• Assist the General Manager in promoting “Positively Outrageous Service” from the Food and Beverage outlets

• Responsible for the weekly scheduling of Talent for the Food & Beverage department as well as payroll

• Ensure all financial transactions are completed properly and within the established guidelines of the property

• Responsible for assisting the General Manager in the budgeting, forecasting, and planning for the department

• Interacting with all Talent (employees) in the department providing ongoing feedback and performance evaluation

• Manage operating expenses using budget/expense checkbook to minimize costs while providing an excellent guest product and service

• Effectually second in command operationally to the General Manager. Assume other duties/tasks as may be delegated or assigned by the GM.


Applicant Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in hospitality /Resort Management preferred

• Legally eligible to work in the United States

• This person should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with basic knowledge of hotel related processes and departments.

• Excellent skills in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

• 2-3 years of experience in Food & Beverage, Restaurant and/or bar, including at least two years of supervisory experience

• Experience working in a branded hotel a plus

• Proficiency with MICROS POS automation or similar platform(s) desirable

• Applicant must be personable and exhibit outstanding customer service in guest interactions

• Appropriate business attire

NOTICE:

The hospitality business functions seven (7) days a week, twenty-four hours a day. In addition, this is a hospitality business and a hospitable service atmosphere must be projected at all times.
