Role Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to provide support and back up for the Chief Dam Safety Engineer in helping to ensure all GRH dams meet or exceed Federal Dam Safety regulations. This includes preparation and/or review of annual Dam Safety Surveillance and Monitoring Reports (DSSMRs), annual Emergency Action Plan testing, identifying and recommending appropriate changes and improvements to the Owners Dam Safety Program (ODSP), etc.. In addition, this role provides general civil engineering support for the power plants and capital projects as required.

The role provides an exciting opportunity to be hybrid based in any of our New England offices, which includes Wilder, VT; Concord, NH; Westborough, MA; Walpole, NH; Littleton, NH; and Monroe Bridge, MA.

This role travels as needed to company offices and facilities located in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont. Limited overnight and out of the region travel could be required.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Chief Dam Safety Engineer with managing GRH’s ODSP and complies with FERC Dam Safety Regulations;

• Provides civil engineering assistance to projects and plants;

• Performs dam safety inspections;

• Leverages data and analytics to identify opportunities for improvement, and makes informed recommendations to the Chief Dam Safety Engineer;

• Partners and builds alliances with internal and external stakeholders to process and communicate information;

• Attends and participates in various internal/external calls/meetings and tours;

• Stays current on industry trends and tailors approach to remain compliant; and

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering is required;

• Must have diverse experience in water resources or municipal services; experience in dam safety, civil engineering, or hydraulic modeling/design is a plus;

• Must possess and maintain a valid PE License;

• Must have experience with project management, client-relations management, design, and technical staff supervision;

• Solid knowledge and understanding of FERC regulations, Part 12D independent inspections and Emergency Action plans;

• Ability to drive teams to meet deadlines;

• Ability to coach, advise, give feedback, and help communicate priorities to internal teams;

• Excellent interpersonal skills, including effective communication skills;

• Ability to travel as needed throughout MA, NH, VT;

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;

• Strong time-management skills with a proven ability to juggle multiple projects;

• Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills; and

• Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
